  • Since

    1979

Nari-O-Sishu Kalyan Kendra was established in 1979 under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act. This initiative began with a group of dedicated w Read moreomen from Howrah, mobilizing economically disadvantaged and marginalized women during the devastating flood of 1978, aiming to safeguard their interests for sustainable livelihoods. In 1985, NOSKK took a significant stride by acquiring Foreign Contribution Registration from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of West Bengal. The journey toward fulfilling NOSKK's mission has relied on cooperation and contributions from various national and international resource-sharing agencies, government entities at state and national levels, non-government institutions, and countless individual resource persons. The vision of Nari-O-Sishu Kalyan Kendra is to establish a self-reliant society grounded in human values such as cooperation, participation, justice, respect, and love. It aspires to foster a society where people engage in a decentralized political process, the economy thrives through localized production and consumption, the environment remains free from pollution and exploitation, people sustain their indigenous socio-cultural identity, and patriarchy is eliminated, leading to a more peaceful and harmonious society. Nari-O-Sishu Kalyan Kendra aims to empower oppressed and marginalized individuals, fostering their self-reliance and confidence. The primary focus is on socially, economically, politically, and culturally vulnerable groups, particularly women and children, to work collectively toward achieving a sustainable society. Goals: • Develop the potential and critical awareness of vulnerable groups, motivating their empowerment. • Enhance knowledge and skills, enabling these groups to pursue sustainable development through active participation. • Promote awareness for gender equality in health, education, environment, and economic initiatives, empowering individuals to steer their development. • Establish Self-help Groups using micro-credit assistance to provide a secure foundation for the future generation within vulnerable communities.
