Vatsalya is a Sanskrit word meaning unconditional motherly love. Vatsalya came into existence in 1995 in Rajasthan. The major activities of the organi Read morezation, however, started in the year 2000 when its founding members, Jaimala and Hitesh, both educated as Health Management Professionals from the USA, decided to leave their full-time lucrative job and devote their energy and efforts to work for the rehabilitation of disadvantaged and abandoned children and to do public health management work in Rajasthan. Vatsalya works in project mode and has undertaken projects and interventions that have spread across the entire state of Rajasthan, especially in the area of health. Vatsalya Society (referred to as Vatsalya or Vatsalya Jaipur) is a not-for-profit organization (NPO/NGO) established in 1995 under the Society Institution Registration Act 1958. It catered to orphaned and abandoned children, especially street children through its short-term and long-term program for 20 years. Today, Vatsalya has evolved into a full-fledged community school amidst the villages of Achrol, Rural Rajasthan, along with many other outreach programs across the fields of public health and nutrition, women empowerment, climate change mitigation especially Solar energy, and a very unique STEM-based learning School (STEM = Science, Technology, Engineering & Math), in a self-developed Carbon Neutral Green Campus, the only kind in Rajasthan. Vatsalya has worked extensively in the entire Rajasthan in Public Health and nutrition in partnership with RSACS (Rajasthan State AIDS Control Society), UNICEF, GAIN (Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition), and the European Commission, directly benefitting almost 1 million beneficiaries to date (2023).

  • Vatsalya Seven To Seven Holistic Education Programme

    District

    Vatsalya is effectively scaling up another task through its STEM program by providing scientific learning access to the remotest deprived communities. The growth of the country is possible with a scientific aptitude amongst children currently deprived of it, and this needs to be addressed at the early age of a child (Ref. National Education Policy 2020).

  • Early Childhood Development

    The ECD project is being implemented with the partnership of Unicef and the department of Women and Child Development in the government of Rajasthan, with the objectives of the enhancement of the knowledge and skills of Front-Line Workers(FLWs),Mid level functionaries (MLF), Teachers, Panchayats on Early Childhood Development (ECD); the strengthening of community service delivery platforms; the effective use of mobile/tab-based technology/apps for real-time monitoring; and the rejuvenation and strengthening of existing monitoring and coordination mechanisms within the system.

Theory of Change

The organization works with the belief that underprivileged children have the true potential to bring change in the country if accessibility, availability, and affordability of education resources are enhanced with an emphasis on science and scientific aptitude. Similarly, if marginalized women are skilled and earn a livelihood, it helps in-country economic growth and lifestyle improvement in the family and community.

Milestones & Track Record

Vatsalya have run a successful child rehabilitation programme by rehabilitating over street children, orphan children and marginalized children through its long term rehabilitation programme. It has trained over thousand of government health care service providers. One of the major achievement is not only skill training of women in tailoring handicraft but also linked over 1000 poor and marginalized women with the livelihood. It is running a unique school for disadvantaged family to provide holistic education specially focus on science education to develop scientific aptitude in early age. The Vatsalya school campus runs on renewable energy with zero carbon emission. Through its early childhood development, Vatsalya strengthen the government systems in Sirohi, Karauli and Dhaulpur districts. Through its HIV/AIDS clinic and outreach programme of HIV/AIDS, it has benefited over million transit population of truck drivers and hundreds of female sex workers. Vatsalya also have received over 1000 international volunteers in last twenty years.
