WAG was set up 13 years ago by Atul Sarin, who moved from the UK to Goa to help stray animals after seeing their plight. We help all animals and hou Read morese 150 rescued animals in total, including cows, dogs cats, goats, turkeys , rabbits ,parrots and many more. Since opening we have sterilized over 10,000 animals, given 10,000 anti rabies vaccinations, ensured the adoption of 2,000 puppies and kittens, rescued 1000 farm animals (such as goats, pigs, donkeys, rabbits, chickens, turkeys, etc.) and have also rescued over 5,000 cows. Over the last few years WAG has greatly impacted the life of many stray animals. We, at WAG, endeavour to continuously develop and upgrade our facilities, improve our skill sets , and increase our resources in order to help our animals more efficiently.
Issue
Our vision at WAG is to have Goa suffering free State for the stray animals. With over 70,000 stray dogs and 10, 000 stray cattle, this will be a formidable task. In addition, we would like Goa to be rabies-free State, and also reduce the deadly parvo and distemper viruses which kill thousands of puppies and kittens every year. Furthermore, we would like to be involved in abolishing all illegal activities, that cause suffering to animals. This includes illegal pet shops, breeders and slaughterhouses. Our vision is also to provide educational workshop for schools, welcoming students of all ages to interact with our rescued animals in order to show them that they are also sentient beings. We have also held similar workshops for the tourism industry, welcoming hotels and their employees who have enjoyed a team building 'Day-out', where much was learned and a good time was had by all.
Action
We already sterilized more than 2000 dogs and cats per year but aim to double that number as soon as we can. For this, funding is very important as it involves more catching equipment, cages, catching staffs, vehicles, medicines and doctors. We aim to vaccinate over 10, 000 dogs and cats every year with anti-rabies and the 9 IN 1 vaccines (which includes protection from Parvo and Distemper viruses). A topic close to our heart is to build an 'OLD DOGS HOME', as many older stray dogs suffer a terrible end on the streets, as they can longer fend for themselves. We wish to give them a dignified end to their precious lives. Having rescued and relocated over 10000 cows since WAG started, we have realised that the busy streets of Goa are no longer safe for them. We have achieved an award winning self-sufficient Goshala using the economical benefits of cow dung(Gobar) and cow urine which help finance the running of the cow shelter without dairy practices. For example, we have Goa's first Bio-Gas plant turning cow dung into clean non-fossil fuel gas, which is then used to cook food for our rescued animals.

Feeding and Monitoring Program
As Goa is a tourist destination, from October to April, many beach shacks and restaurants are open. During this time the stray beach dogs and cats have plenty of food to survive. However, off-season (May-October) many, if not all, of these beach shacks shut. As a result, our strays are left with no source of food, and have to fend for themselves for those long 6 months.
Not only do we feed beach dogs, we also rescue upto 500 street dogs every year, most with horrific wounds and injuries. Giving them good food, helps them have a speedy recovery.
This is how our Feeding and Monitoring Programme began. Through this we are able to feed, sterilize, vaccinate and treat over 200 dogs and cats. We also bring puppies and kittens in for adoption and vaccination.
We need more than 5 big bags of Chappies everyday, which cost Rs 10,000. Please help by donating or sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family.
