Anjali Society for Rural Health and Development, founded in 1988 by Smt. Anita Shah and Dr. Lalit Shah initially began with a medical practice aimed a Read moret understanding and serving the local community's needs in Ranasan, Gujarat. The founders transitioned their practice into a small health centre called Gramin Arogya Kendra, starting with limited resources but gaining acceptance from the community due to their prior engagement. With the donation of land and support from organisations like the Share & Care Foundation, Anjali progressed to establish a hospital by 1993, focusing on providing healthcare services to rural populations regardless of background. The organisation's vision revolves around promoting health and overall development in rural areas without discrimination. Its mission encompasses various activities, including community health promotion, affordable hospital services, education empowerment for women and youth, environmental initiatives such as tree plantation and rainwater harvesting, and promoting moral and ethical values among the rural population. Through these efforts, Anjali strives to uplift rural communities and foster sustainable development in the region.

Anjali Hospital
Anjali Hospital, founded in 1989, started as Gramin Arogya Kendra in a rented house in Ranasan village, later expanding to new premises. With support from donors and the Share & Care Foundation, construction began in 1991, and the hospital opened in 1993. Initially offering basic healthcare, it now provides specialized services like gynaecology and psychiatry. Operating on a pro-poor policy, it collaborates with government programs and conducts outreach initiatives. It aims to evolve into a highly subsidized secondary healthcare facility to meet the increasing demand for specialized services and address the rising prevalence of non-communicable diseases in rural areas.

Outreach Programme
Anjali Society for Rural Health and Development has been actively involved in outreach services since its establishment in 1989, aiming to assist the needy and underprivileged in interior villages. Initial efforts included Tuberculosis detection programs and annual eye camps for cataract operations, among others. Eye camps held regularly since 1995 in remote tribal areas, provide examinations, spectacles, and surgeries as needed, with follow-up care also provided. Surgical operation camps, conducted 15 years ago, offer elective surgeries such as hernia repairs and tumour removals, with follow-up care provided locally. These initiatives have significantly benefited rural communities, promoting access to essential healthcare services.
