  • Since

    1990

Established in 1990 and officially inaugurated on November 5, 1995, Ahinsadham stands as a beacon of animal welfare and non-violence (ahinsa) in Kutch Read more, located 44 km from Bhuj, near Mundra Port. Initially founded on a 5-acre land donation from Shree Jadhavji Ravji Gangar, with support from Shree Damji Lalji Shah and Shree Jadhavji Lalji Shah Anchorwala, the center has since expanded into one of India’s most prominent animal welfare institutions, now spanning 600 acres. Under the visionary leadership of Shree Mahendra Ratanshi Sangoi, Ahinsadham has become a sanctuary for over 3,000 animals and birds. Officially recognized as "Bhagwan Mahavir Pashu Raksha Kendra, Anchorwala Ahinsadham," the facility provides refuge for injured and disabled creatures, featuring a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital with ICU facilities for up to 500 animals. The organization's two campuses—Ahinsadham-Sankul and Nandi Sarovar—exemplify a deep commitment to compassion and inspire a global audience through their dedication to ahinsa and exceptional animal welfare. Beyond animal care, Ahinsadham actively promotes environmental conservation, water preservation, and land sustainability, working toward a more harmonious future for all living beings.

Ahinsadham has meticulously developed Nandi Sarovar, a 35-acre lake designed to provide a self-sustaining water supply. This tranquil reservoir serves as a vital lifeline, attracting a diverse range of animals and birds from both the sanctuary and neighboring villages, offering them a dependable source of hydration in the arid landscape.

To support water requirements across the 600-acre expanse, Ahinsadham has constructed a 21-lakh-litre water tank. As part of its commitment to environmental sustainability, the organization has undertaken an ambitious initiative to plant 500,000 trees over 225 acres. Additionally, animal shelters have been built, and a seed bank and nursery have been established to cultivate and distribute a diverse variety of seeds, further reinforcing efforts toward ecological conservation.
