The Don Bosco Center Society stands as a significant facet within the expansive global Don Bosco network, illuminating the path of social transformati Read moreon and community empowerment. Our organization is dedicated to uplifting underprivileged boys and girls in the city of Cochin, located in the state of Kerala. Presently, the Society extends shelter and education to a cohort of 100 boys and 40 girls within its centers. The organization operates across seven distinct centers throughout Cochin, Kerala, each committed to the rescue and rehabilitation of children in dire need of care and protection. Two distinctive programs, namely the Drug Rehabilitation Education And Mentoring (DREAM) initiative and the Kerala Interstate Migrants Alliance for Transformation (KIMAT), have been initiated with the objective of fostering an environment where these young individuals feel not only valued, but also nurtured, educated, trained, and ultimately rehabilitated. Distinguishing itself from conventional childcare institutions, the Don Bosco Center Society goes a step further by providing indispensable aftercare services to those children who have surpassed the age of 18. This post-childhood phase, known as aftercare, assumes the role of a preparatory stage for young adults. During this pivotal juncture, the Society extends crucial support for pursuing higher education, offers coaching for entrance examinations, facilitates professional training, and fosters the trajectory of career development.

Issue

Sneha Bhavan addresses a multitude of pressing issues, embodying its commitment to uplifting marginalized individuals and fostering positive change within the community. One significant issue the organization tackles is the plight of underprivileged children. Many children in the area face a lack of access to basic necessities, education, and a safe environment. Sneha Bhavan steps in to provide shelter, care, and educational opportunities, thereby addressing the critical need for a nurturing space where these children can thrive and build a foundation for a brighter future. The organization grapples with the challenge of substance abuse among youth. Cochi, like many other places, is not immune to the impact of drug addiction, which can have devastating consequences on individuals and their families. Sneha Bhavan's Drug Rehabilitation Education And Mentoring (DREAM) program takes a proactive stance in addressing this issue by offering a comprehensive support system for individuals battling addiction, guiding them toward recovery and empowerment. Migrant populations represent another segment of the community facing unique challenges. Sneha Bhavan recognizes the vulnerabilities faced by migrant youth who often come to the city in pursuit of better opportunities but may find themselves isolated and without proper support networks. Sneha Bhavan Annexe and Kerala Interstate Migrants Alliance for Transformation (KIMAT) program serves as a beacon of hope for these young individuals, providing them with educational and career guidance, aiming to bridge the gap and enable them to pursue their dreams. Sneha Bhavan extends its efforts to empower girls in the community. Valsalya Bhavan and Valsalya Bhavan Annexe cater specifically to girls aged 6-18, recognizing the importance of creating a safe and nurturing environment where they can receive education, guidance, and support to break free from societal constraints and build promising futures.

Action

Sneha Bhavan, nestled in the heart of Kochi, stands as a resolute embodiment of compassion, propelling forward transformative change. This organization's unwavering dedication finds expression through an intricate tapestry of initiatives, each meticulously designed to illuminate lives and engender progress within the community. At the core of Sneha Bhavan's endeavors lies its mission to offer solace and a nurturing haven to the underprivileged youth of Kochi. With a heartwarming commitment, the organization extends a protective embrace to these vulnerable souls, safeguarding their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. Through a blend of compassionate care and insightful guidance, Sneha Bhavan strives to equip these young individuals with the resilience and optimism to navigate life's challenges. Education stands as an unshakable cornerstone within Sneha Bhavan's array of activities. Recognizing the profound impact of knowledge, the organization diligently orchestrates opportunities for quality education. Formal schooling, vocational training, and skill development programs collectively empower these young minds to break free from the shackles of adversity, forging paths toward brighter, more promising futures. Comprising our comprehensive network of seven centers—namely Sneha Bhavan (Boys 6-12 Years), Don Bosco Boys Home (Boys 12-18 Years), Valsalya Bhavan (Girls 6-12 Years), Valsalya Bhavan Annexe (Girls 12-18 Years), Bosco Nilayam (Open Shelter for Boys 6-18 Years), and Sneha Bhavan Annexe (Migrant Youth Students pursuing higher education, Boys 18-35 Years)—we steadfastly dedicate our efforts to the betterment of the youth. Our focus lies in uplifting and transforming their lives, nurturing their potential, and guiding them towards a promising future. Sneha Bhavan's commitment transcends immediate care, revealing itself through comprehensive rehabilitation and reintegration strategies. The Drug Rehabilitation Education And Mentoring (DREAM) program symbolizes their unwavering determination to aid individuals in overcoming the shackles of substance abuse, guiding them towards renewed control over their lives. Similarly, the Kerala Interstate Migrants Alliance for Transformation (KIMAT) program reflects its visionary stance, addressing the challenges faced by migrant populations and affirming our commitment to inclusivity. Sneha Bhavan extends a guiding hand during this crucial period, offering educational support, entrance exam coaching, professional training, and career development opportunities. Through this holistic approach, we ensure that our beneficiaries stride confidently into their futures, well-prepared to seize opportunities and contribute to society.

Impact

Sneha Bhavan wields the potential to create a profound and lasting impact on society through its multifaceted activities. By providing shelter, care, and education to underprivileged children, the organization can reshape the trajectory of young lives, breaking the cycle of poverty and offering a chance for a brighter future. This has the potential to contribute to a more educated and empowered generation, capable of becoming active participants in the community and the broader society. The Drug Rehabilitation Education And Mentoring (DREAM) program, aimed at combating substance abuse, has the capacity to not only rescue individuals from the clutches of addiction but also to mend families and reintegrate individuals as productive members of society. The ripple effect of recovery could extend beyond the individual, positively influencing their families and the community at large, reducing the social and economic toll of addiction. Through its dedication to migrant youth, Sneha Bhavan can facilitate the transformation of individuals who might otherwise remain marginalized due to a lack of support and opportunities. By providing education, guidance, and a sense of belonging, the organization could potentially equip these individuals with the tools to contribute to society in meaningful ways, unlocking latent potential and diversifying the workforce. The empowerment of girls through Valsalya Bhavan and Valsalya Bhavan Annexe fosters gender equality and empowers young women to become leaders and changemakers in their own right. This can lead to a more inclusive and balanced society, where opportunities are extended to all, irrespective of gender, and where the contributions of women are acknowledged and valued.
