Counselling
"Parihara" is the counselling division of Neethi Vedhi, offering vital assistance to survivors of exploitation, enabling them to assert their rights and confront the obstacles they face. The organisation acknowledges the significance of human rights advocacy in addressing family-related concerns and strengthening the welfare of women and children. Professional counsellors provide guidance and counselling services at the organisation's office.
-
Legal Assistance
The program supports victims and survivors of exploitation and abuse while providing a non-judgmental and approachable environment for vulnerable sections of society seeking legal assistance. This is done by offering legal counselling through in-house lawyers who clarify legal options, prepare petitions, and take up legal cases in courts when required. Additionally, para-legal workers engage with affected individuals, providing emotional support, preparing petitions, and referring severe cases to the office for legal and psychological counselling. Neethi Vedhi conducts legal awareness classes, legal clinics and arranges interactions with government officials to address the denial of legal rights. Furthermore, the organisation takes on PILs, primarily focusing on the human rights of marginalised groups, such as Adivasis. Mediation is also a key tool to resolve disputes and conflicts, particularly in family and community settings, promoting issue resolution and relationship restoration.
-
Women Empowerment Programs
Neethi Vedhi has been committed to advocating for women's rights from the outset, with women prominently involved in the organisation's leadership and staff. They officially support women survivors of domestic violence in Wayanad, offering legal and psychological counselling in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Child in Kerala. Neethi Vedhi conducts awareness sessions on women's rights, particularly in disadvantaged areas, and pays special attention to workplace rights for women. They actively engage with other organisations to combat abuse, exploitation, and violence against women and children, emphasising gender equality. Additionally, the organisation has initiated Women Harmony Clubs to promote peaceful coexistence among women from diverse backgrounds.
-
Youth and Children Programs
Neethi Vedhi has established a vigilance cell to combat child abuse in accordance with the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act 2012, conducting classes and workshops in collaboration with schools, human rights organizations, and well-wishers to raise awareness about preventing child abuse and legal remedies for survivors. They also promote harmony among students through Students Harmony Clubs, fostering respect for diverse backgrounds and providing training in nature connection and social involvement, with 22 affiliated clubs. Additionally, Neethi Vedhi encourages peace and harmony among youth through 16 Youth Peace and Harmony Clubs in various villages, organizing activities to bridge religious and political divides and promote community development.
-
Adivasi Empowerment Programs
"Neethi Vedhi is dedicated to empowering Adivasi youth through three initiatives:
""Kathir"" aims to inspire and develop leadership skills in Adivasi youth, encouraging them to be change agents in their communities.
""Kanal"" nurtures the talents of young tribal children by providing coaching in academics, fostering artistic abilities, building confidence and reducing stage fear.
""Unarvu"" addresses the challenges tribal students face in adapting to the mainstream school system, offering support through daily classes led by qualified tribal youth, resulting in improved education and social relationships, with local authorities recognising this effort as a potential model for government initiatives in tribal education." -
Conflict Resolution & Peace Building
Neethi Vedhi has introduced Conflict Resolution and Peace Building as a new approach towards legal interventions for marginalised communities. They emphasise respecting diversity in religious and cultural traditions, relationships, orientations, and approaches. Neethi Vedhi aims to understand conflicting parties' emotional and familial backgrounds, their ultimate needs, goals, and possible common ground to find solutions. Given the increasing polarisation based on religion, caste, and political affiliations, Neethi Vedhi advocates for mutual respect and coexistence from a young age to prevent societal violence. They have established 23 panchayat-level and 3 municipality-level Peace Committees in Wayanad district, comprising members from various backgrounds mediating local conflicts. Additionally, a District Peace Forum, composed of influential individuals representing diverse communities, coordinates peace-building initiatives and addresses conflicts affecting a larger population.
