Need Base India (NBI) founded in December 2009 aimed at helping all those children living under the most dreadful and uncertain situations. The organi Read moresation stands for providing holistic development i.e. care and protection, health, education, life skills, etc. to the children who otherwise never had accessibility to any of these. NBI aims at giving an opportunity to children from difficult backgrounds to live, grow, flourish, and become successful in their lives. Thus, it dreams of empowering children from difficult backgrounds or disadvantaged groups who can later be a positive influence in the communities or society they live in. To provide care and protection, Need Base India is running long-term residential Care Homes for children found in difficult situations. The Residential Homes are run by the Government. School Premises and we are running Eight Residential Homes across Bangalore by helping 450 children. The impact, we see is that more than 50 children have passed 10th std, many of them are continuing higher education and few of them are working in various places. Need Base India runs another program, that is teaching the students studying in the Government. Schools situated in rural areas. We focus on those government schools, which have a shortage of teachers and teach Maths, Science, and English from class 5th to 7th std. This is taught by our volunteers situated across the globe and as a result we see many children continuing education and there is a drastic reduce in the number of school dropouts. We are collaborating with eVidyaloka and the Dept of Education, Karnataka.

Need Base India (A foundation for Child Care and Development) is a non-profit organization started in Dec 2009 with the intention to work towards addressing the basic and fundamental rights of child care, protection, health and education for children living on streets, runaway children, orphans, children out of school or children under challenging situations. Mr. Rahim S Director is been working with the children issues for the past 15 years and was also a member of Child Welfare Committee (CWC) at Bangalore since Feb 2007 to 2010 The organization vision is ‘To stand for the Child Rights and Guarantee that Every Child get a Happy Childhood, thus enabling children to become responsible citizens’. Need Base India works with those families who do not have the capacity in bringing-up their children for whatever may be the reason. Under such circumstances one cannot expect that the children will be safe and also opportunity for keeping the child and family together may not be possible by considering the child rights perspective. So to ensure care and protection, we are running seven residential centres’ at Bangalore in the Govt. School premises.

Theory of Change

At Need Base India (A Foundation for Child Care & Development), our Theory of Change is based on the belief that every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment to grow and develop to their full potential. We recognize that the well-being of children is interconnected with the well-being of their families and communities. Therefore, our interventions are designed to not only address the immediate needs of children but also to build the capacity of parents and caregivers to provide long-term support and care for their children.

Our Theory of Change is cantered around the following key assumptions:
Assumption 1: Children have the right to be protected from all forms of violence, abuse, and exploitation.
Assumption 2: Children who are healthy and well-nourished are more likely to thrive and reach their full potential.
Assumption 3: Education is a fundamental human right and a key driver of social and economic development.
Assumption 4: Children who have access to quality education are more likely to break the cycle of poverty and contribute positively to their communities.
Assumption 5: Parents and caregivers play a critical role in shaping the development and well-being of their children.

Based on these assumptions, our Theory of Change is as follows:
1. We work to prevent and respond to violence, abuse, and exploitation of children by providing protection services and advocating for child rights.
2. We improve the health and well-being of children by providing access to quality health services, nutrition, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) interventions.
3. We ensure that children have access to quality education by providing formal and non-formal education programs that are relevant to their needs and context.
4. We support parents and caregivers by providing parenting education, livelihood support, and access to social protection services.
5. We engage with communities and key stakeholders to raise awareness of child rights and promote positive social norms that support the well-being of children.
6. We monitor and evaluate the impact of our interventions to ensure that they are effective in achieving the desired outcomes for children.

Through these interventions, we aim to achieve the following outcomes:
Outcome 1: Children are protected from violence, abuse, and exploitation.
Outcome 2: Children are healthy and well-nourished.
Outcome 3: Children have access to quality education.
Outcome 4: Parents and caregivers are empowered to provide long-term support and care for their children.
Outcome 5: Communities are aware of child rights and supportive of the well-being of children.

Ultimately, our Theory of Change is grounded in the belief that every child has the potential to thrive and contribute positively to their communities, and that by investing in their well-being and development, we can create a brighter future for all.
