Programs

  • Tavaru mane

The term "Tavaru mane" translates to "Mother's House" in Kannada, symbolizing the moral and emotional security, care, and support typically associated with a mother's nurturing. The organisation adopts this concept to underscore its commitment to providing support and care to the female beneficiaries, akin to what they would receive in their own mother's home. During the lockdown period, it extended assistance to marginalized women and girls facing challenging circumstances, offering essential needs such as shelter, basic food, clothing, and compassionate care. Additionally, it provided emotional support and counselling to these individuals, recognizing the importance of addressing their holistic well-being during difficult times.

  • Rudraksha Family Counselling Centre

Samaja Seva Samithi actively engages in family counselling, recognizing the significant stress experienced by nuclear families, whether it be mental or financial. The efforts have led to numerous successful family reunifications, while in cases where reconciliation is not feasible, it provides women with vocational training and support through income generation programs. It receives cases from various sources, including local and state authorities across different districts. This vital initiative is made possible with the support of the Central Social Welfare Board.

  • Legal Awareness Program

The Rudraksha Family Counseling Center conducts monthly legal awareness programs in various locations, including the Jayanagar BBMP Office, Vasavi Women Organisation, Nelamangala, Bharathi Women Co-operative Society, Sumangali Seva Ashram in Hebbal, ISRO Layout Slum, Kannada Sahitya Parishath, Veerashiva Seva Sangama in Jaraganahalli, Brahmakumari Programe, Veterinary College Seminar hall in Bangalore, and Eejipura Slum in Bangalore South, among others. These programs aim to raise awareness about legal and environmental issues, with a focus on distributing saplings for environmental conservation. With a total of 988 participants, the programs cover topics such as sexual harassment prevention in work settings and address concerns related to women, adolescents, non-teaching staff, and students. Additionally, twelve programs were organized in collaboration with the Anti-sexual harassment cell (Internal Compliance Committee), covering legal aspects of women's issues.

  • Psychological Counselling Awareness Programme

Samaja Seva Samithi organized a psychological counselling awareness program at Sunkenahalli Government High School on July 25, 2018. The session was conducted by a doctor from BBMP hospital, who addressed health-related issues affecting adolescents alongside psychological counselling. The session covered topics such as social and emotional changes during adolescence. Samithi offers face-to-face counselling services for adolescent girls, families, and individuals dealing with interpersonal emotional problems. Trained lay counsellors from Samithi, along with specialists such as psychologists, paediatricians, and special educators, are available at BMCRI to provide support and guidance.
