Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled

Samarthanam's school started in 2004; this Kannada medium school offers free residential facilities to children with disabilities and underprivileged kids. Equipped to educate 300 plus students; the School provides secure, hygienic and accessible infrastructure with an excellent learning atmosphere. Children with disabilities include visually impaired, physically impaired, speech and hearing impaired. We also cater to the school dropouts and children form socio-economically backward communities. The school is run with a team of trained and experienced full time teachers who ensure that the children do well in the recognized Board exam. All expenses towards education are borne by Samarthanam. The highly committed and consistent flow of volunteers from companies conduct activity based classes in languages, civics, science and mathematical concepts etc which help the students to learn better. The school also promotes sports and performing arts as part of co-curricular activities.

India (DFI) which is involved in the production of
books and reading materials in accessible formats for
the disabled. Samarthanam’s Digital Library is first of
its kind to be set up and operational in India.
