Since
1985
A volunteer organisation called Seva-in-Action (SiA) was founded in 1985 with the goals of empowering people with disabilities and establishing fair o Read morepportunities for an inclusive society. Upon recognising the significant disparity between the required and available services, SiA initiated a rehabilitation program for children with disabilities (CWDs). Close collaboration with local communities was maintained as they developed and executed services that were economically, socially, and culturally appropriate, utilising a comprehensive approach. The goal of the entire program is to demystify and transmit technology at the community level in ways that are relevant and easy to understand. In our nation, finding employment possibilities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities has proven to be quite difficult. SiA is concentrating on developing skills to improve access to chances for earning a living through wage work or self-employment. SiA is a member of the MSJE GOI Central Advisory Board for Disability (CABD), which advises the central government on the implementation of the RPD 2016. SiA is also a member of the Karnataka Samagra Shikshana EC committee (SS-K). SiA has served on several state and federal bodies that create training initiatives and policies.

Skill Development Training & Livelihood
The goal of the Skill Development and Livelihood Program is to enable young adults and adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) to find meaningful work and livelihood possibilities.
Helping young individuals with IDDs find open jobs and participate in worthwhile livelihood options, such as entrepreneurship, is one of the primary objectives. The age range for this program is 16 to 30 years old. Based on the abilities and potential of the learners, the curriculum provides support skills for both the open and protective markets. "Personality Development and Soft Skill Training," in addition to exposure trips, outings, and adventure camps that are regularly scheduled, are essential components of the program. Additionally, it offers instruction in "Self-Advocacy and Communication" abilities.

Inclusive Education
Since its founding, Seva-in-action has worked closely with the government system to build the system's ability on a local level to implement policies. In addition to evaluating inclusive education projects, SiA has been working with the education department at the state and federal levels since 1998 to develop model projects for IE and support state-level upscaling. This involvement has taken the form of in-service and preservice teacher education programs. In terms of curriculum creation, teacher education, and IE program evaluation, SiA has consultative status with MHRD.
Milestones & Track Record
SiA has served on several central and state government committees to develop policies and training programs. It is a member of the Central Advisory Board for Disabilities which advises the government on implementing the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016.
