The Trust's mission is to positively impact the lives of one million people in rural India over the next five years by implementing sustainable technologies and empowering economically disadvantaged communities through the support of generous donors, committed volunteers, and collaborative partnerships.

Impact

By implementing the 5H program, the Sri Sri Rural Development Program Trust has reached 36,557 villages, impacting over 300,930 individuals across 498 districts in 23 states, while also developing 50 model villages that have improved the lives of over 100,000 people; additionally, it has trained 16,546 rural youth, organised over 500 conferences with participation from over 10,000 leaders in business, politics, academia, science, art, and religion, ultimately benefiting more than 5.6 million people.

Programs

  • Project Kisaan

    This initiative aims to enhance the economic conditions of small farm holders in India by addressing the challenge of fragmented land holdings through the establishment of Farmer's Producer Organisations (FPOs). These small-scale farmers play a crucial role in the country's agriculture production and rural economy. However, they face numerous challenges due to limited resources, low productivity, weather dependency, and socio-political factors. Over a span of three years, the initiative aims to create 50 FPOs in 10 states, engage with 500,000 farmers, stabilize their operations, increase farmers' income by 50%, and foster collaboration among FPOs at state and national levels for sustained growth and support.

  • ART OF LIVING 5H Programmes

    The objective of the 5H program is to provide homes for the homeless, health care, hygiene, human Values, and harmony in diversity to rural areas and villages. This comprehensive initiative strives for social transformation by eliminating poverty, misery, and disease, while fostering peace and harmony in rural and tribal regions across the globe. Its focus is on addressing the fundamental needs of individuals and promoting inclusive values to create a positive and equitable society.

  • Youth Leadership Training Programme (YLTP)

    The Youth Leadership Training Programme (YLTP) provides local community youth with the opportunity to undergo training that enhances their confidence, motivation, and skills to initiate and lead service projects independently. By participating in this programme, young individuals develop the necessary abilities to take charge and make a positive impact within their communities. The YLTP empowers them to become proactive leaders, equipped with the knowledge and confidence to successfully undertake and oversee service initiatives.

  • Women Empowerment Programmes(Shakti)

    The Women Empowerment Programmes were initiated to involve rural women in income-generating activities, providing them with training in various skills like stitching, cutting, embroidery, and beadwork for creating jute bags. Additionally, modular vocational training centres target underprivileged youth in urban and semi-urban communities, offering opportunities for employment and income generation. The initiatives encompass beautician training programmes that enable motivated young women to become entrepreneurs and beauticians, running small businesses from their homes. Other projects include raising awareness on hygiene and the production of sanitary napkins, empowering illiterate and abused women through skill training, supporting a women's cooperative society, and promoting HIV/AIDS awareness among rural adolescents.

  • Boond Initiative

    Boond, an initiative by SSRDP, focuses on providing clean and safe drinking water access to rural India. Across over 50,000 villages, Boond implements water purification pyramids, aqua packs, and water distillation units. Local 'Yuvacharyas' are trained by SSRDP to operate and manage these units, ensuring sustainable water solutions. Projects include the Bio Sand Community Filtration system that offers safe water without chemicals or electricity, Aqua Packs utilizing solar thermal energy for pathogen eradication, Terafil Water Filters for impure water treatment, and Rainwater Harvesting initiatives to address water scarcity and promote environmental sustainability at the grassroots level.

  • Light A Home Programme

    The "Light a Home" project was initiated to offer clean and affordable lighting solutions in rural India. The programme aims to provide access to 360 million people in 74 million rural households who lack electricity. SSRDP facilitates the distribution of high-quality and cost-effective solar lanterns, home lighting systems, and solar cookers through Solar Centres across India. These centres are operated by trained local 'Yuvacharyas' who ensure efficient implementation. Initiatives include solar lantern distribution, solar battery charging stations, solar electrification of schools, solar microgrids for village electrification, solar dual water pumps for community drinking water, and solar street lights for community usage.
