Works with the aim of providing resolution to family disputes, with special focus on matrimonial conflicts. It is located in the same premises as the Read morelocal Police station and receives frequent complaints and counselling requests from estranged couples and their family members. The nature of complaints ranges from trivial household disputes to serious matters such as sexual harassment and torture. It adopts a re-conciliatory approach and provides counselling and consultation to couples who wish to resolve their disputes and arrive at an amicable solution. If the counselors find that reconciliation is not possible, the case is referred to the court for initiation of appropriate proceedings. Serious matters which are in the nature of criminal offences are referred to the Police for further action. It also focuses on welfare and empowerment of women in need and provides residential facilities known as Shelter Homes to women and children in need or distress. The woman or child in need may directly approach them and may even be referred by another person or entity.
