Dasra is working to bring together funders, non-profit organisations and the Government to jointly further the cause of community development. It trie Read mores to connect charitable foundations and humanitarians to non-profits to fund their missions and also create awareness about strategic giving to funders and optimal use of funds to non-profits. It is involved in many benevolent projects to bring appropriate financial help to not-for-profit organisations. It believes that how a funder gives is more important than how much they give, Its experience in strategic funding guides It to provide counsel to funders to partner with non-profits in their humanitarian initiatives. It is working to transform organisations, be they start-ups or well-founded, to build and increase their capacities through face-to-face engagements and partner-based programmes. It runs four programmes, in partnership with Harvard Business School and Ashoka University, aimed at empowering and developing the critical thinking skills of social sector leaders. To encourage adolescents' contribution to community building, It provides a safe space to them where they can be heard and are free to express themselves. Its focus is especially on empowering young girls, through initiatives which help them complete their secondary education, delay early marriage, delay the age of first pregnancy and increase their confidence. Partnering with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the National Faecal Sludge and Septage Management Alliance (NFSSM), It is trying to create a national movement to improve urban sanitation. It facilitated getting passed India’s first national policy on Faecal Sludge and Septage Management (FSSM) by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. It pushes development work in India through publishing over five hundred reports, videos and articles that have earned attention on key initiatives and motivated funders both in India and abroad to extend financial help to non-profit organisations helping them achieve their humanitarian goals.
