PATH

PATH focuses on eradicating infectious diseases through the development and execution of innovative strategies. Its efforts encompass the prevention, management, and elimination of diseases like TB, HIV, hepatitis, and neglected tropical diseases such as visceral leishmaniasis, lymphatic filariasis, dengue, and malaria. Additionally, PATH is dedicated to reducing mortality caused by acute encephalitis syndrome. It provides crucial technical support to states, promoting sustainable engagement models, enhancing surveillance, training healthcare professionals, and gathering and analyzing data to combat these diseases effectively.

PATH is actively engaged in promoting immunization and improving vaccine accessibility by collaborating with India's prominent vaccine manufacturers. Its involvement extends to preclinical research on potential new vaccines, conducting critical clinical evaluations, and devising innovative methods for introducing new vaccines and reinforcing immunization systems. Notably, PATH, in partnership with others, achieved significant milestones by creating India's first and second vaccines for Rotavirus. With more than two decades of experience, it has made substantial contributions to strengthening Japanese encephalitis immunization services in India. Furthermore, PATH evaluates the scalability of innovative cold chain equipment, such as the freeze-preventive vaccine carrier, which facilitates the safe transportation of vaccines for broader immunization initiatives.

PATH is dedicated to enhancing family health and nutrition in India, where there is a significant burden of low-birth-weight babies and maternal deaths. Collaborating with partners, PATH focuses on bolstering newborn nutrition and delivering vital healthcare interventions to improve health outcomes for both mothers and infants. It facilitates access to tools that enhance the accurate screening and diagnosis of illnesses in children under the age of five. Additionally, PATH collaborates with the Government to expand access to affordable, high-quality reproductive health supplies. Addressing issues like micronutrient malnutrition and anaemia, it works with stakeholders to introduce fortified rice into Government food safety net programmes, aiming to combat these health challenges effectively.

PATH takes a pioneering role in advancing digital health in India. It actively promotes the creation and implementation of digital tools within public health initiatives, enhancing programme efficiency and the utilization of emerging technologies. Additionally, PATH fosters knowledge sharing and cross-learning between various sectors and regions through the promotion of digital and data-driven approaches, ensuring that the advantages of digital health are accessible to all.

PATH's core mission is to fortify public health systems through sustainable innovations and strategic partnerships. It has a two-fold approach: first, integrating and expanding health innovations to improve access to essential healthcare services and ensure the resilience of health systems. Second, it strives to enhance primary healthcare outcomes in both urban and rural settings, establishing a seamless continuum with secondary and tertiary care facilities. PATH is committed to enhancing diagnostic services through innovative solutions and devices, facilitated by its expert system integration platform, the Impact Lab, which aids innovators in taking their creations from the laboratory to the market. Furthermore, it collaborates with Governments to strengthen disease surveillance and prepare for emerging challenges like antimicrobial resistance. PATH actively promotes cooperation to address the intersection of climate change and its impact on health.
