Mentor Together, an NGO based in India, aims to address the pressing issue of inequality and limited opportunities faced by millions of young people i Read moren the country. The organisation recognizes that factors like caste, gender, religion, and place of birth play a significant role in determining the economic and social outcomes of individuals. Research has shown that family background contributes to inequality in wages, highlighting the need for intervention. Mentor Together's approach focuses on two key elements. Firstly, it emphasizes the importance of life skills such as time management, motivation, and perseverance in shaping young people's social behaviours and economic prospects. Mentorship provides a crucial avenue for adolescents to acquire these skills through observation and guidance from mentors who demonstrate and enable them to develop these essential life skills. Secondly, the organisation recognizes the power of social networks in facilitating upward mobility and resource mobilization. Many young individuals have limited natural networks, making it challenging to access diverse opportunities. Mentorship serves as a bridge to connect them to a broader world through experienced mentors, expanding their networks and opportunities for growth.

Mentorship Programme
The mentorship programme focuses on four key stages designed to foster a strong and trusting relationship between mentors and mentees. The first stage, "CONNECT," establishes trust and comfort, followed by "EMPOWER," where mentees work on enhancing various aspects of their lives with the help of mentors. In the "LEVEL" stage, power differences are eliminated, fostering a mutual relationship where both mentor and mentee contribute and learn. Finally, in the "EVOLVE" stage, mentees make future life decisions with guidance from mentors. Additionally, a toolkit featuring 18 life and work skills, adapted from UNICEF's classification, supports mentors and mentees throughout their journey.
