Harmony House works to address and meet the needs of destitute children in the fields of education, food, health, health facilities, and future employ Read moreability. Through its shelter homes, it provides a safe environment for children to eat, play, and learn while the parents, especially mothers can work and earn their livelihood.


Issue

Children and women living in slums are trapped in a harsh environment braving the problems of unforgiving surroundings.


Action

Harmony House acts to provide education to the children and women living in slums in an enjoyable, fun and enabling environment. Besides education It also imparts vocational training for older children in yoga, stitching, horticulture, music and beauticians courses to enable them to pick up their choice of employment in future.

Impact

The organisation has enrolled more than 4500 children, 250 and 150 students successfully passed 10th and 12th grades respectively, 140 students have received scholarships to private schools, 112 are pursuing higher education and more than 1500 children are on the waiting list to get enrolled and prepares over 1500 meals a day for enrolled children.

Programs

  • Vocational Training

    The older kids are given vocational training in yoga, stitching, and cosmetics. Children can start their own enterprises as soon as they are old enough, generate income and support their families.

  • Health & Sanitation

    To help slum women keep a clean household, it provides them with disinfectants and floor cleaners.

  • Education Material

    Provides children with stationery items, clothes and toys.

  • Helping Women Work

    Children from nearby slums visit shelter homes for food and education. It takes children up to the age of 16 under its care, allowing women who live in slums to earn. Women do not have to worry about the well-being of their children as they are being taken care of by the organization. Hence, they can work in the informal sector and earn a livelihood.

  • Shelter Homes

    It has 4 shelter houses where it supports over 1000 children. The shelters have different rooms that operate as classrooms, computer rooms, libraries and playing rooms for children of different age groups.
