U.S.R. Indu Samiti, a duly registered society, has been dedicated to the noble cause of educating and aiding special needs children in Uttarakhand, In Read moredia, for the past 18 years. Its overarching objective is to foster an all-encompassing societal milieu where individuals coexist harmoniously without any discrimination. The mission of this venerable institution encompasses several facets: extending protective measures and specialized services to uplift the helpless, impoverished, and underprivileged; offering educational and rehabilitative facilities to children unable to access conventional schooling due to physical or mental disabilities or financial constraints; providing aid to orphaned and destitute women; initiating, overseeing, and coordinating research in both general and special education; imparting vocational training to help the economic and social standing of impoverished families; and furnishing guidance and support for the betterment of differently-abled members within the community. Indu Samiti draws strength not solely from its professed ideals, but primarily from the tangible impact of its endeavours. At present, the Samiti operates a specialized school with an inclusive infrastructure and residential amenities for Uttarakhand's special needs children, alongside a skill development training centre catering to the differently-abled individuals of the region.

Kavita's Women Support Home Programme
Kavita's Home, under the stewardship of Kavita Bisht, an acid attack survivor and visually impaired woman, has been established in Kalusiddha village, Ramnagar, by U.S.R. Indu Samiti. Its current initiative involves providing vocational training to local women and girls who visit the facility for two hours daily. Post-lockdown, Kavita's Home aims to extend its services to include residential accommodations and vocational training for victims of acid attacks, sexual harassment, domestic violence, elderly women, and differently-abled adult girls, thereby fostering their rehabilitation and empowerment.

The Janet Sheed Roberts Residential School for Special Need Children
The institution dedicated to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) functions through three distinct departments: In the Educational Department, a cadre of specialized educators, alongside volunteers, part-time physiotherapists, speech therapists, and caregivers, creates a nurturing learning environment for children with varying disabilities, including Mental Retardation, Hearing Impairments, Visual Impairments, and Physical Disabilities. Meanwhile, the Vocational Training Department empowers self-reliance by providing opportunities for skill development. The Skill Center encompasses laboratories for computing, sewing and tailoring, electronics, sanitary and plumbing trades, beauty treatments, candle making, and sweater crafting. These training initiatives are tailored to match individual student interests and aptitudes, enhancing their self-sufficiency.
