Programs

  • Prenatal Vitamins & Minerals Invervention

The organisation, through partnerships and expertise, aims to improve global maternal and newborn health by scaling up access to Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS). Recognizing the increased nutritional needs during pregnancy, especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where deficiencies are common, the organisation addresses poor maternal nutrition that can lead to newborn deaths and maternal complications. By providing MMS formulated according to international standards and promoting their use, Vitamin Angels strives to enhance maternal and child well-being worldwide. Its efforts encompass supply, demand creation, global supply assurance, and policy influence in LMICs to support MMS availability and usage.

  • Infant & Young Child Nutrition Programme

Vitamin Angels is expanding evidence-based initiatives to enhance infant and young child nutrition during the critical first 1,000 days. Its focus spans from pregnancy to age two, aiming to improve survival, growth, and overall health outcomes. The organisation supports informed decision-making through policies, training, and counselling for caregivers, promoting practices such as exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months and introducing nutrient-rich complementary foods from six months to two years. It addresses malnutrition by encouraging optimal breastfeeding and complementary feeding, aiming to prevent underweight and stunting. Additionally, Vitamin Angels implements Social and Behavioural Change approaches to comprehensively address behavioural factors influencing nutrition practices, working towards healthier lives for mothers, children, and communities.

  • Vitamin A & Deworming Programme

Vitamin Angels combines vitamin A supplementation and deworming treatments to enhance child nutrition and lay the groundwork for healthy lives. Over nearly three decades, the organisation has effectively reached millions of children worldwide, partnering with local organisations and Governments to bring this essential intervention to underserved communities. Vitamin A supplementation helps prevent childhood blindness and mortality rates by supporting growth, immunity, and vision. Deworming interventions with Albendazole boost immune systems and ensure nutrient absorption, addressing the challenges of intestinal worms in areas with vitamin A deficiency. By distributing vitamin A and Albendazole together, Vitamin Angels contributes to the improved overall health and survival of children in underserved regions, reducing childhood infections and enhancing well-being.

Vitamin Angels offers technical assistance to its programme partners, enhancing and expanding their nutrition services through learning solutions, monitoring and evaluation, and supply chain support. By leveraging existing systems, the organisation's technical assistance enhances the quality and impact of health and nutrition services. Learning solutions include educational materials and training courses for partners delivering evidence-based interventions. Additionally, Vitamin Angels strengthens the supply chain to ensure nutrition products reach underserved populations, tracking logistics and improving product availability globally to overcome barriers to access.
