Life Project 4 Youth (LP4Y) is an organisation with a significant presence in India. It all began in 2015 in Pahar Ganj, a historical area of the capi Read moretal frequented by tourists and home to many disadvantaged children and young adults. LP4Y quickly established a successful centre there, leading to further expansion and formalization of its local operations. In 2016, LP4Y teamed up with founders of the NGO Tomorrow's Foundation, Arup and Swarup Ghosh, in Kolkata, to focus on empowering young adults through professional inclusion and social development. This collaboration led to the opening of additional centres in various cities, addressing the needs of marginalized communities. LP4Y's commitment to India includes urban and rural areas, with the establishment of Green Villages in Chhattisgarh in 2018 and West Bengal in 2021, furthering its mission of positive social impact.

Programs

  • Training Development Centre & Life Project Centre

The organisation operates two primary centres: the Training & Development Center (TDC) and the Life Project Center (LPC). The TDC offers a 6-month programme, running 5 days a week, with 2 to 3 teams of 17 youth per team. It follows a batch and mentoring system, focusing on serving the local community. Each TDC supports 72 to 108 youth annually. On the other hand, the LPC provides a 9-month program, also 5 days a week, with a similar team structure. Each LPC supports 34 to 51 youth each year. These centres play a crucial role in empowering young individuals and addressing urban poverty zones in the region.

  • Green Villages Programme

LP4Y extends its impact to rural areas through its Green Villages programme. This residential 3-month initiative, operating 6 days a week, accommodates three teams of 20 youth in rotation each month, with one coach per team and a batch and mentoring system. In these Green Villages, 240 youths are supported annually. The programme encompasses various Microeconomic Initiatives (MEIs) in the circular economy, including a bank, restaurant, community cyber café, events, and construction & sustainable development. LP4Y's commitment to youth development is evident in its efforts to empower and uplift rural communities, offering sustainable opportunities for young individuals.

  • Little Angels Academies Programme

    District

LP4Y through its Little Angel Academies (LAAs), operates nurseries within its centres to cater to the children of young mothers participating in its programme. These nurseries play a vital role in enabling young mothers to fully engage in the programme, ensuring a nurturing environment for their children. LAAs are dedicated to three key objectives: welcoming the children of excluded young parents, promoting child education and development, and providing guidance and support to families, encompassing areas such as hygiene, nutrition, health, safety, and child development. LP4Y's commitment to supporting both young parents and their children underscores its holistic approach to empowerment and well-being.

  • LP4Y Digital Programme

LP4Y's initiative, LP4Y Digital, serves as a platform for professional integration, equipping young individuals with essential digital skills for improved employability. Each LP4Y centre is furnished with computer-equipped rooms, ensuring access to quality equipment. Moreover, LP4Y Digital facilitates the creation of professional email addresses for all youth and grants them access to collaborative tools, fostering a digital identity for each participant. The programme also offers online learning modules, allowing for the development of individual profiles and access to job opportunities, thereby empowering young people for a successful transition into the professional world. LP4Y's commitment to digital inclusion is a cornerstone of its mission.
