Action

Impact

EDI reaches thousands of beneficiaries each year through one-on-one conversations, visits to orphanages and the elderly, seminars, skills training courses, and outreach camps.

Programs

  • COMPUTER APPLICATIONS

This six-month course aims at helping the student become adept at using a computer for personal and professional use. The students are required to individually complete multiple assignments using different software applied to varied situations. Students learn appropriate business communication through Documents, Presentations, Spreadsheets and Mail. This course makes them work ready.

  • GARMENT CONSTRUCTION & DESIGN

The course is split into 3 levels and has a comprehensive syllabus that includes a range of garments, household products and accessories with professional finishing. They learn to use precise tools, pattern making and drafting, and stitching on domestic and industrial machines. They are exposed to market survey, cost estimation and design principles, preparing them to run their own business.

  • BEAUTY MAKEUP & HAIR

The course is split into two levels covering foundational beauty skills, including expert makeup skills, and advanced chemical hair straightening and colouring methods. Multiple practice of each skill on real models with detailed assessment and feedback, scientific understanding of the principles involved and exposure to the latest techniques and brands make our students confident and valued by their customers.

  • ENGLISH CONVERSATION SKILLS

English Conversation is offered as an add on to every skill student and is also offered as an independent course. Using practical everyday situations, students are made comfortable in comprehending and speaking English. Internationally tested and tried curriculum is adapted to the individual student. Different methods are used to make the course interesting and useful. Students show an objective improvement not only in their English, but also in their self-confidence.

  • Study Centre

The Study Centre has been opened to enable women to continue their education. It offers a safe quiet space for self-study. They are provided wifi, laptops, books and digital resources. Mentoring and counselling is given when required. Studying together gives the students courage and hope to broaden the scope of their ambitions, and to be more disciplined and serious in their pursuits. Future expansion plans include remedial study groups and career counsellors that will give women the helping hand they need to achieve their dreams.

  • Outreach

As part of our effort to help build the communities from which our students come, Kamalini carries out a variety of activities in the neighboring villages. These range from medical camps, awareness building programs, and distribution of rations, to visits by qualified experts in different fields. Regular visits to the surrounding villages are carried out by the Kamalini team to understand the background of the students coming to our institute and to assess the needs of their community. Through conversations with community members and ASHA workers we have helped to build a network of support for our students, accompanying them beyond the boundaries of the campus.
