To lessen the effects of anthropogenic climate change, FORRAD principally focuses on regenerative agriculture and water security for smallholder and s Read moreharecropper farmers. The restoration of traditional water conservation and management techniques, such as the restoration of village ponds, anicuts in Rajasthan, traditional irrigation systems in Tamil Nadu, and pyne-ahars in Bihar, is a top priority for FORRAD to accomplish the aforementioned goals. The intertwining themes of social justice, community empowerment, education, and health care are also addressed by FORRAD programs. approximately the years, FORRAD has supported approximately 450 grassroots groups in rural India, including those in the states of Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. The organization has given technical and financial support to these organizations. Presently FORRAD operates in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu.

Programs

  • Health

    In the Thiruvallur region of Tamil Nadu, the Mobile Medical Unit (MMU), which was founded in 2017 and is funded by the Michelin Corporate Foundation, provides medical care to 31 villages and hamlets that surround the Michelin India location. The prevention and treatment of chronic, non-communicable diseases such diabetes, hypertension, osteoarthritis, anemia, malnutrition, respiratory conditions, and fungal skin infections are the specific goals of the MMU. The group started tackling mental health concerns in 2022. When visiting communities with wide roads, the team utilizes a larger bus with basic diagnostic equipment; when visiting smaller villages with populations that are more vulnerable, they use a rental jeep.

    A doctor, a physiotherapist, a nurse, a health worker coordinator, six community health workers, a worker at the village level, two health communication coordinators, and a driver make up the MMU's staff.

  • Water and Agriculture

    Worked for rainwater harvesting around Sambhar Salk Lake in Rajasthan in partnership with Manthan Sanstha and Prayatna Sansthan.
    Water storage for individual households in Rajasthan in partnership with Manthan Sanstha.
    Watershed development in Bundelkhand, UP in partnership with Gramonnati Sansthan.
    Farm Bunding
    The restoration of 39 km of traditional irrigation channels in Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu.
    Testing of water quality in Tamil Nadu.
    Cleaning of 60 public overhead tanks in Tamil Nadu.
    Cleaning, chlorination and covering of open wells in Tamil Nadu.
