National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) is a cross-disability, non-profit organization, working as an interface betwe Read moreen the Government, Industry, International Agencies, and the Voluntary Sector towards empowerment of persons with disabilities.  NCPEDP advocates for the need to move away from traditionally held views of charity and welfare to those of productivity and enabling of persons with disabilities. Registered in 1996, NCPEDP has, since then, successfully advocated several policy changes that have positively impacted the lives of people with disabilities, working across to encourage the employment of disabled people; increase public awareness on the issue of disability; empower disabled people with knowledge, information, and opportunities; and ensure easy and convenient access to all public places, products, services, and technologies. It has pioneered many Disability Rights Movements in the country leading to the passage of India's Disability Act 1995, Inclusion of Disability in the 2001 and 2011 Census, speedy ratification of UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities by India, and drafting of a new disability rights legislation- Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 and more recently the National Education Policy 2020. Its sustained advocacy efforts also led to the formation of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD)

  • NCPEDP- Bajaj Finserv Scholarship Program for Students with Disabilities

    This project is specially designed to give 100 students with disabilities financial support so they may finish their education and advance to a point where they can find employment. There will be a three-year support period with a student-to-teacher ratio of 30:30:40 from secondary education, senior secondary education, and higher education (depending upon the needs and performance of scholars). Applications submitted in the required format will be approved, and the NCPEDP's goal is to choose students with a variety of disabilities through a thorough screening process.

  • Capacity Building Workshops/Trainings

    The goal of capacity-building seminars is to inform participants about recent changes in the field of disability law, including the National Education Policy and the effects of COVID-19 on people with disabilities. The intention is to enable DPOs, individuals, and activists to speak up for rights when interacting with government representatives, particularly in rural areas.
