  • Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra

To elevate the status of vocational training and position India as the global skill capital, it is imperative to make vocational training aspirational. In alignment with this vision, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has set forth a plan to establish Model Training Centres (MTCs) in every district of the country. These MTCs will serve as visible and aspirational centers of excellence.
The Ministry has entrusted the NSDC with the responsibility of implementing this ambitious project. The NSDC, as the implementation agency, will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful establishment and operation of these MTCs across the nation.
The purpose of the MTCs is to provide top-quality vocational training and create an environment that inspires and motivates individuals to pursue skill development.

  • Technical Intern Training Program (TITP)

The Technical Intern Training Program (TITP) was initiated in Japan in 1993 with the objective of supporting the development of participating countries by providing on-the-job training (OJT) to their citizens in Japan. The program aims to facilitate international cooperation by transferring skills, techniques, and knowledge gained by technical interns to their home countries. This exchange not only contributes to the development of human resources but also stimulates economic growth in the respective regions.
Under this collaborative program, selected candidates from India undergo a period of three to five years of internship in Japan. Following their training, these individuals are required to return to India and apply the skills they acquired during their time in Japan. To ensure the program's effectiveness and smooth operation, the NSDC was appointed by MSDE in January 2018 to oversee and monitor its implementation.

  • Specified Skilled Worker

Japan’s Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) program, launched in April 2019, addresses Japan’s critical labor shortages by inviting foreign talent, including young professionals from India, to work in specific sectors. This program offers two residency types: SSW1 for semi-skilled workers and *SSW2* for highly skilled workers, enabling foreigners with specialized skills to live and work in Japan. With easier access to work visas and pathways for longer stays, the program opens new opportunities for Indian youth, fostering a beneficial exchange of skills and talent while supporting Japan’s workforce needs.
