Nazariya Foundation seeks support to strengthen and sustain ARRSH (Advocacy, Referral, Resource Support, Safe Home, and Helpline), an integrated support initiative for LGBTQIA+ individuals across India. With a particular focus on queer women, queer couples, transgender, trans masculine individuals, and gender-diverse persons, survivors of Natal and Familial violence, shelter insecurity, barriers to healthcare, education and identity documentation, and institutional discrimination.
Through its five interconnected components, namely, Advocacy, Referral, Resource Support, Safe Home, and Helpline. ARRSH provides coordinated, survivor-centred, and affirming interventions that address both immediate crises and structural barriers contributing to exclusion and vulnerability. When a community member reaches out in crisis, we provide immediate support. The experiences and challenges emerging from that support help us identify broader barriers and advocate for change. We then work with institutions, networks, and systems to improve their responses to queer and transgender persons.

The Nazariya Foundation has established a Mental Healthcare Unit to tackle the issue of costly and inaccessible mental health services, particularly for marginalized groups like the LGBTQIA+ community. Recognizing the scarcity of queer and trans-friendly mental health practitioners, the organisation has created a dedicated unit that offers pro bono psychotherapy exclusively to queer and trans individuals. The unit also operates a peer-counselling helpline and extends professional mental health assistance to individuals spanning the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. The pandemic has further highlighted the importance of connectivity, prompting the Foundation to provide a platform for sharing and listening, as people continue to grapple with feelings of loneliness, fear, and anxiety.

Training Programme

Delhi
Nazariya Foundation conducts participatory training programmes on gender, sexuality, violence, diversity and inclusion for government institutions, private organisations, civil society groups and service providers.
The sessions help participants understand how discrimination based on gender, gender identity and sexual orientation operates in everyday life, workplaces and institutions. They also examine how caste, class, religion, disability and ethnicity shape people’s experiences and access to safety, dignity and opportunity.
Using discussions, case studies and reflective exercises, the trainings move beyond basic awareness to strengthen practical skills, institutional accountability and inclusive decision-making. Nazariya also supports organisations on queer-affirmative practices, survivor-sensitive responses, workplace inclusion, stress, burnout and collective wellbeing.
Each programme is adapted to the needs of the participating organisation and designed to create changes in attitudes, policies, workplace culture and service delivery.

Impact
Nazariya Foundation helps women, queer and trans people move from crisis towards safety, stability and independence. Through timely intervention, survivors are connected to safe shelter, counselling, legal assistance, healthcare, identity documents and livelihood opportunities. The impact is not limited to immediate relief. Continued case support helps individuals regain confidence, make informed choices and rebuild lives outside violence, family control and economic dependence. For some, this means finding a safe place to live. For others, it means securing documents, returning to work, accessing mental healthcare or receiving support to pursue legal remedies. Nazariya also works to improve the systems survivors must depend on. By training shelters, service providers and institutions, it strengthens their ability to respond to women, queer and trans persons with greater sensitivity and dignity. Every contribution helps ensure that someone facing violence or rejection is not left to navigate the crisis alone, and has a practical pathway towards safety, rights and a life of their own choosing.
Vision and Mission
Nazariya Foundation aims to make LGBTQIA+ lives visible and create an environment where queer persons can demand their rights and speak for themselves with access to equal opportunities and resources in a non-discriminatory setting.
