Room to Read India focuses on providing education to every child and also, ensuring that the girl child continues to be in the school even at the seco Read morendary school level. To do so, it adopts child-friendly ways to retain the children. It also emphasizes on the importance of reading. It calls for the active participation of the community, school, and local authority to achieve the desired impact.The organisation works with the government and other partner organizations to create equal and robust education systems that reaches the most vulnerable children and improves teaching and learning environments and materials.

It has through its various programmes impacted 4,00,000,000 children enrolled in Schools; 63,457 girls benefitted from Girls Education Program; 27,000 teachers trained in various programs; 25% less drop out-rate witnessed by Life Skills Study (RCT)15,642 Govt. schools implemented the Literacy Program;63.8% of Scholars enrolled in tertiary education or employed within a year after graduation; More than 205 titles were published and over 9.35 million books distributed.

  • Girls Education and Gender Equality Programme (GEGEP)

    The GEGEP programme engages with girls for them to complete their educationand to strenghthen their self- awareness, social awareness and self efficiancy to be able to make informed choices about their lives. Over the years, the programme has witnesses powerful stories of changes leading to best practices to learn from and innovative strategies to celebrate and share.

  • Girls Education progamme

    Room to Read India focuses on ensuring every girl has access to education opportunities and a supportive environment to empower themselves and make significant life decisions. The Girls Education Program (GEP) offers well-structured programs with mentorship from local women called Social Mobilizers for up to seven years, providing essential life skills training and academic support. The program aims to enable girls to choose their own path confidently and independently. Strategies to achieve this include providing online and offline life skills training, in-person and remote mentoring support, engaging with families, schools, and communities, and offering need-based material support to overcome barriers.

  • Literacy programme

    Room to Read India focuses on providing quality education with scientific rigor and measurable outcomes. Their literacy program enables primary school children to become independent readers and lifelong learners. The program includes explicit instructions, forming reading skills and habits, enabling environments, monitoring, teacher training, and setting up libraries. They develop age-appropriate literature and collaborate with various stakeholders for an engaging and inclusive learning environment. The LiteracyCloud.org platform offers over 1,600 age-appropriate book titles in multiple languages, making literature accessible to all.
