Programs

  • Outreach Programs - Aarohini Initiative

The Aarohini Initiative was established in 2011 as a programme for girls' empowerment and education. It is based on the belief that both boys and girls need to be taught to critically analyse the role and construct of gender in their own lives and communities and look for ways to replace them with more egalitarian and equitable structures. The Aarohini Initiative is primarily a teacher training programme that equips educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to critically analyse the social and political contexts in which they live as well as the structural reasons behind their oppression. The purpose of the intensive workshops and discussions is to equip teachers with the necessary tools and resources to facilitate change and to assist them in their role as change agents in their schools and communities. The programme seeks to establish a positive feedback loop in which educators serve as change agents and empower their students to identify and confront gender discrimination.
