    2012

Innovation and Science Promotion Foundation (ISPF) has been creating and delivering hands-on science programmes since 2012. We currently work with 25, Read more000 Government and Affordable private school children in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Some of the premier schools in the country including the Doon School, Valley School and DPS have incorporated our programme into their pedagogy. The activities are designed using simple, low cost material that are generally repurposed. Each child makes 10-12 working models and experiments in an academic year, with each session lasting 90 minutes (2 school periods). The child continues the exploration by making observations and building variations that are leveraged to help them achieve deep conceptual understanding. The material selection and processes are designed to improve hand skills in 5-8-year group and develop problem solving and creative thinking in older children. ISPF has developed an extensive repository of over 300 hands-on activities using simple materials, covering Physics, Chemistry and Biology topics in III-X standard science curriculum. ISPF, with the RRI Trust (Founded by Sir C.V.Raman) and ThinkTac, has conducted three annual editions of the Raman Young Science Innovator (RYSI) Award that saw to 12,000 registrations in 2019. The Raman Experiential Science Teachers Award (REST), in its second edition saw participation from over 1,000 teachers in 2019.  ISPF, together with its partner ThinkTac, has created extensive content for its activities that are published under the Creative Commons License. This includes TACtivity guides (https://tactivity.in). Wipro, Bharti Foundation, Concern India Foundation, Action Aid, Infosys Foundation and several others have supported ISPF over the past five years, in bringing hands-on science learning into the classroom for thousands of government school children. ISPF has valid 80G, 12A and FCRA registrations. The engagement and twinkle in the eyes of children that have made a TACtivity has been universal. ISPF is looking for donations to expand the outreach initiatives.

  • TACLearn

The Free, 3-day Hands-on, Experiential Science Teacher Training Programme, held at Sir C.V. Raman’s House in Malleswaram, Bangalore, aims to ignite and nurture the scientific curiosity inherent in every child by equipping teachers with the necessary tools and skills. Organized by ISPF & ThinkTac, the programme emphasizes the importance of guiding questions, objective experimentation, and persistence in fostering discoveries and inventions. Through the TACLearn™ Teacher Training Programme, educators gain valuable knowledge and skills to make science more engaging for students, preparing them to deliver the ThinkTac programmes effectively. While open to Science or Education graduates, teaching experience is preferred, and both full-time and part-time opportunities are available for educators to engage with partner institutions or set up local community-serving centers in partnership with ThinkTac.

  • Open Day

On Saturday, April 21, 2018, an engaging Science Open Day will take place at Sir C.V. Raman’s former residence, Panchavati, in Malleswaram, Bangalore. Similar to the previous event held in November, this Open Day will feature live laboratory stalls offering a variety of activities facilitated by educators throughout the day, providing attendees with opportunities to explore science experiments freely. Registration is recommended to secure a free essential materials kit and avoid queues at the venue. The event is open to all ages, with workshops tailored for children aged 8-15 (accompanied by an adult for ages 6-7) and engaging activities suitable for attendees 16 and over. Attendees are encouraged to bring family, friends, and neighbors to partake in this enriching scientific experience. The event promises unique experiments and ample materials for exploration, ensuring a memorable and educational day for all participants.
