Foundation For Mother And Child Health works to improve the lives of mothers and children by implementing programmes on hygiene, good health, nutritio Read moren and skills training. Supports all mothers and children in the area irrespective of social, economic or religious background. It has been granted accreditations from Dasra, United Way, Give India and Guide Star India. It also has sister organisations in the UK and Indonesia working to improve the health and wellbeing of mothers and children in those countries.

Programs

  • Wadia Intervention

    District

    Partnering with Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital and other social organisations across the country, The Foundation volunteers are stationed in booths at the OPD where children below five years are screened for early symptoms of malnutrition.
    Children identified with severe malnutrition are directed to the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre(NRC) and those with moderate malnutrition symptoms are treated and regularly counselled at the FMCH OPD itself.

  • Community Nutrition Initiative

    District

    Addresses malnutrition issues and underweight children in urban districts of Maharashtra. It is an initiative partnering with the Integrated Child Development Scheme(ICDS).
    It is the implementation partner for the Bhiwandi area and works to address birth weight issues, reduce malnutrition and increase the rate of infant and child feeding practices. It provides scientifically accurate, contextual knowledge to all stakeholders ensuring the adoption of best practices for long-term change

  • Partnership and Training Vertical

    It is involved in collaborating with its stakeholders for the long term, to scale up tried and tested modules of the NuTree app, Nutrition Course, Pregnancy Club and more. It intends to strengthen the modules by improving delivery mechanisms and also initiate behaviour change in the communities.

  • Project Poshan

    Project Poshan focuses on the early detection of malnutrition in the urban slums of Kurla. It works with pregnant women and children up to the age of two years. Ensures they have support and provides information and knowledge on good health through education sessions for mothers, caregivers and family members.
    It also provides access to health professionals for medical and health-related advice or support and monitors the beneficiaries for the required period of engagement till the child attains two years of age. It aligns with child development protocols of Integrated Child Development Schemes (ICDS), a flagship programme of the Women and Child Department, Government of India.

    1. Project Poshan is oriented towards the early detection of malnutrition in the urban slum population of Jarimari area, Kurla. It is aligned with child development protocols of Integrated Child Development Schemes (ICDS) – A flagship program of the Women and Child Department, Government of India. 2. Community Nutrition Initiative works in partnership with the Integrated Child Development Schemes (ICDS) to reach highly-prone malnutrition areas. Scientifically accurate, contextual knowledge is accessible to all stakeholders – ensuring adoption of best practices for long-term change. 3.
