1983
Founded in October 1983 as "IMPACT," an International Initiative Against Avoidable Disablement, this organisation gained support from UNDP, UNICEF, WH Read moreO, and Governments worldwide. It acts as a catalyst, uniting Governments, corporations, and NGOs to prioritize national healthcare. With a forward-looking vision, IMPACT aims for "Action Today To Prevent Disability Tomorrow." Its mission centers on intensifying efforts against preventable disability causes, using existing systems. It also treats millions with curable conditions like blindness, deafness, and physical impairments, restoring sight, hearing, mobility, and facial deformities. It excels in project development, credibility building, performance evaluation, efficiency systems, volunteer programmes, communication, and collaboration with Governments, corporations, NGOs, and volunteers. Throughout its history, IMPACT conducted impactful projects like Polio-Free Madras, Bombay Against Disability, Guinea Worm Eradication, Cure on Wheels, Malaria Control, and Flood Relief - 2005. Presently, it continues with Lifeline Express and the Community Health Initiative.

Lifeline Express Programme
Impact India Foundation's Lifeline Express, the world's first hospital on a train has a straightforward mission: to prevent disability, especially in rural India, and provide medical services to those in need. Since its launch in 1991, this initiative has positively impacted over 600,000 disabled individuals in rural India, restoring mobility, hearing, and sight through the efforts of more than 80,000 surgeons. It has also inspired similar projects in other countries, including China and Central Africa. Recently, Lifeline Express expanded to include two coaches dedicated to cancer and family health services, offering free diagnostic and surgical treatments. Celebrating 24 years of service, this unique project continues to make a difference in the lives of the underprivileged rural population, thanks to the support of Indian Railways, donors, and medical professionals from around the world.

Community Health Initiative (CHI) Programme
Impact India Foundation, through its Community Health Initiative (CHI) programme, is undertaking a groundbreaking effort to significantly reduce disabilities among a population of 1.5 million individuals. This innovative project aligns with the priorities of both the Indian Government and international agencies. CHI aims to achieve a 50% reduction in future disability through preventive measures and a 50% reduction in existing disabilities through curative interventions. Moreover, it strives to develop replicable systems and methodologies that can benefit India and other developing nations. In partnership with the Maharashtra State and local NGOs, Impact is implementing a comprehensive health-delivery system in tribal areas, focusing on issues like malnutrition, maternal health, immunization, and more. It also employs an engaging health game, "Snakes and Ladders," to educate rural school children about healthy behaviours in an enjoyable manner.
