The Keshav Sita Memorial Foundation Trust collaborates with Rudra Environmental Solutions (India) Ltd, established in 2009. Rudra focuses on convertin Read moreg waste plastic into fuel through Thermo Catalytic Depolymerisation (TCD). Its journey started with a pilot plant in 2010, followed by a second-generation plant in 2013. Currently, its patented third-generation plant operates successfully in Jejuri M.I.D.C. The company holds ISO 9001-2008 certification. Rudra's partnership with Keshav Sita Trust aims to raise awareness about waste segregation and collect plastic from Pune. It collects from nearly 12,000 households, hotels, and businesses. The Trust engages with communities, conducting meetings and fostering cooperation. This successful model can expand to more areas, as Rudra and Keshav Sita Trust have nurtured strong relationships with stakeholders over three years. Its mission began in 2009, driven by witnessing wildlife harm due to plastic consumption, leading to TCD technology development.
Action
The trust collects waste plastic from over 15,000 households, hotels, and offices in and around Pune, and has expanded its collection efforts to other areas like Baramati, Baneshwar, Raigad Fort, Bhimashankar, Thane, and Dombiwali.

Plastic Waste Processing Programme
The organisation engages in a critical process that addresses the need for plastic waste management. It employs Thermo Catalytic Depolymerization (TCD) to convert waste plastic into usable fuel and synthetic gas. The process involves cleaning and shredding the plastic, then subjecting it to TCD within a heated sealed reactor, breaking down the polymer chains to produce hydrocarbon vapours. The resulting synthetic oil, gas, and carbon are pollution-free end products. This efficient process offers various advantages, as it doesn't require pre-sorting, cleaning, or drying of plastic waste, thereby reducing operational costs. For every ton of plastic, it generates poly fuel, synthetic gas, moisture, and residual char, contributing to cleaner energy sources and minimizing waste.
Milestones & Track Record
The trust has grown from collecting waste from 6,000 households to over 15,000 households, hotels, and offices, and has expanded its reach to multiple cities beyond Pune.
