Slum Soccer, also known as Krida Vikas Sanstha, harnesses the power of football to transform the lives of street dwellers. It was founded after witnes Read moresing the sheer happiness of street children playing football amidst adverse conditions. Football serves as a universal language, breaking barriers of race, religion, and gender. Through this sport, Slum Soccer empowers the underprivileged to overcome the challenges of homelessness, drawing from successful experiences globally. India, home to over a billion people, harbours 170 million street dwellers, constituting a significant portion of the world's slum population. Many earn less than $1 a day, with women and children facing the brunt of deprivation. Despite the staggering numbers, the Government's efforts remain inadequate, leaving the homeless vulnerable to exploitation and rights violations. Slum Soccer, a registered NGO since 2001, operates under the Public Trust Act of Maharashtra, with a mission to use football as a tool for social upliftment and empowerment among India's homeless population.
