The organization prioritizes support for tribal communities, Scheduled Castes, backward castes, and landless regions, particularly in areas where the environment has been degraded. Special attention is given to women, both in watershed projects and the promotion of Self-Help Groups (SHGs). Key Activities: Natural Resource Management Poverty Reduction Livelihood Development Community & Institutional Development As its name suggests, the Sanjeevani Institute of Empowerment and Development (SIED) aims to empower individuals to overcome poverty on a large scale. Its specific objectives are: Organizing Self-Help Groups (SHGs): To empower individuals by forming SHGs, enabling them to make meaningful changes in their own lives and in the institutions and structures that impact them. Providing Resources and Support: To offer capacity building and material support to these groups and their facilitators, helping them achieve their hopes and aspirations in a sustainable way. Networking and Mainstreaming: To integrate these groups into the local developmental framework, ensuring they can access long-term opportunities and resources. Promoting Gender Equality: To foster changes in gender relationships, creating space for gender-balanced development within families, communities, and institutions. Advocating for Pro-Poor Policies: To influence policy and institutional environments in favor of equitable and sustainable development that benefits the poor.

Direct Implementation of Watersheds
StateSIED is currently managing the implementation of 115 watershed and village development projects across Maharashtra. These projects are primarily supported by NABARD under the IGWDP and NHWDP programs, as well as through MREGS and WOTR support.

Trainings, Exposure Visits, Workshops, and Gatherings for Villagers
SIED organizes exposure visits, training sessions, and experience-sharing gatherings for village communities, Village Watershed Committees (VWCs), women’s Self-Help Groups, Samyukt Mahila Samitis (the apex body of women’s SHGs), and Watershed Volunteers (Panlot Sevaks) involved in watershed and rural development activities.

Women’s Development Activities
Women’s development and empowerment are central to SIED's mission. The organization focuses on forming SHGs for savings and credit, which later engage in developmental and income-generating activities. Through these groups, SIED has introduced social and drudgery-reducing initiatives, such as smokeless chulhas, drinking water systems, kitchen gardens, LPG connections, and toilet construction.
