Vidyarthi Sahayyak Samiti has been instrumental in changing the lives of numerous rural students. Established in 1955, it operates as a registered cha Read moreritable trust under the Maharashtra Public Trust Act 1950. Its founders, including Dr. Achyutrao Apte and Haribhau Phatak, initiated the mission to provide affordable lodging and boarding in Pune for economically disadvantaged boys and girls striving to achieve their educational goals. Initially starting with meals for five students, the organisation expanded to include boarding facilities, extending its support to girls as well. Presently, Vidyarthi Sahayyak Samiti manages four hostels in Pune, catering to 747 students, with a strong emphasis not only on accommodation but also on personality development. It upholds values of cleanliness, equality, and the dignity of work, welcoming students from rural backgrounds based on need and potential, regardless of caste or religion. Despite receiving donations mainly from urban areas, the organisation prioritizes admission for promising students from rural communities.
