Centre for Applied Research and People Engagement (CARPE EcoSattva) is dedicated to creating inclusive and viable communities by rolling out verified Read moresolutions and fostering partnerships to address public issues. CARPE EcoSattva works with local authorities and communities to optimise resources, improve waste management systems, treat and reuse wastewater, and promote the growth of trees and green spaces. By tackling these issues, It aims to create healthier, more environmentally friendly and enjoyable villages, towns, and cities.

Impact

CARPE's solid waste management initiative has significantly impacted in 3 countries where BOTRAM has been implemented, transformed 14 cities and villages where SWM systems have been rolled out, generated 2,188 livelihoods, trained 17 lakh residents in source segregation, a possible 90 percent waste recovery completed, recovering 60,284 tons of dry waste, while its green cover management initiative has managed to plant 27,042 saplings, covered 28,144 sq. mtr. area covered under trees of 90 varieties, while the water body restoration initiative has helped treat 23 kl of wastewater every day, rolled out 6 wastewater treatment projects with 30 kilometres of water bodies treated.

Programs

  • Solid Waste Management Programme

    CARPE addresses the challenges of solid waste management by renovating waste systems, promoting extended producer responsibility, and providing training and certification. Its approach focuses on improving waste collection, resource recovery, and disposal processes, ensuring the safety and self-esteem of sanitation staff. CARPE works with local bodies and communities, implementing its proprietary BOTRAM process to optimize solid waste management. Additionally, CARPE emphasizes the recovery of multi-layer plastics and the livelihoods of waste pickers. Through training and certification, it empowers sanitation workers to educate residents and contribute to a cleaner India.

  • Green Cover Management Programme

    CARPE provides nature-friendly solutions for green cover management, focusing on integrating nature's competent systems into man-made settings. Its services include the establishment and nurturing of Miyawaki Native Forests in suitable locations, delivering sustainable and professional solutions. CARPE also employs green techniques, customising plantation plans based on the client's requirements and local vegetation. Its strategic initiative, the Green Aurangabad Mission, aims to address the challenge of growing and supporting green cover in urban environments with conflicting land claims. Through study-driven approaches and stakeholder involvement, it optimises resources and considers the ecological impact. The Green Aurangabad Mission Report serves as a valuable resource for stakeholders interested in developing CSR strategies or execution plans in this sector.

  • Water Body Restoration Programme

    CARPE is dedicated to water body restoration through its focus on wastewater treatment, water reuse, Nala and river cleaning, and the establishment of Ecological Sewage Treatment Plants (Eco STPs). It prioritizes the importance of water in supporting green cover projects and urban forests, utilizing ecological systems that use enzymes, plants, microorganisms, and sunlight for efficient and viable sewage treatment. CARPE's scientific approach and utilization of natural resources contribute to the restoration and revitalization of nalas and river bodies, ensuring their ecological health and preservation for the future.

  • Prakriti Research Fellowship Programme

    The Prakriti Research Fellowship is a grants programme launched by CARPE to support nature conservation research and action, aiming to generate a real and long-term impact on nature conservation in Aurangabad and elsewhere. This fellowship provides initial funds to individuals, teams, and small NGOs engaged in impactful grassroots work in the field of nature protection, with support from industry partners such as Grind Master Machines Pvt. Ltd. and CANPACK India Pvt. Ltd. The fellowship, in its fourth year as of 2022, represents CARPE's commitment to fostering nature conservation research and action in India.
