Umang Charitable Trust, commonly referred to as Umang, is an NGO dedicated to supporting children facing developmental challenges. Its primary mission Read more revolves around providing comprehensive care to youngsters with various disabilities, including Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation, Learning Disability, Autism, Attention Deficit Disorder, and Behavioural Disorders. The organisation offers an array of clinical services, ranging from pediatric assessments to various therapies. Additionally, Umang extends its reach to children in municipal schools who require specific treatments, offering them free education and therapies such as Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Remedial Education. Umang's vision is to empower students with disabilities, irrespective of their financial backgrounds, by providing them with quality education and therapy. Its ultimate goal is to enable these children to lead independent and fulfilling lives. The organisation strives to integrate Umang into the lives of children with disabilities, bridging the gap and ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder a child's access to the care and attention they deserve. Umang's objectives include early intervention to assist parents in determining the best educational and therapeutic paths for their children, fostering societal acceptance of teenage autistics, and promoting independence and employment opportunities for autistic adults within the community.

The organisation offers a range of services, including remedial education with behavioural therapy, social skills training, aptitude testing and career guidance, NIOS programmes at various levels, special diet planning, educational, speech, occupational, and group therapies, psycho-educational assessments, psychological counselling and guidance, and pre-vocational training.

Psycho-Educational Assessments Programme
Within its programme offerings, Umang conducts psycho-educational assessments, encompassing evaluations of both psychological aspects and academic skills. Psychological aspects assessment covers intelligence, language skills, memory, verbal and visual learning, attention/concentration, eye-hand coordination for paper-and-pencil tasks, planning ability, and reflective/impulsive response style. On the other hand, academic skills assessment involves areas such as reading (phonetic skills, sight vocabulary, reading comprehension), spelling, writing, mathematics (basic numerical operations, mathematical reasoning), academic fluency (speed of reading, writing, calculating), listening comprehension, and oral expressive skills. Additionally, the organisation provides psychological counselling and guidance services.

Future Programmes
Umang Charitable Trust has future plans to meet the increasing demand for its services. It aims to establish a vocational centre, expand school infrastructure with advanced technology, offer vocational training, create a Therapy Centre for various therapies, establish a Family Support Centre for counselling and respite care, empower parents through a Parent Training Centre, provide early autism detection through a Diagnostic Centre, and enhance the quantity and quality of educators with a Teacher Training Centre.
