The CEPT Research and Development Foundation (CRDF) was established to oversee and carry out research initiatives in multiple development sectors. It Read moreworks with other thematic centres to tackle difficult problems in the field of construction. Urban planning, expansion of infrastructure, water and sanitation, historical preservation, environmental issues, green living, cost-effective housing, sophisticated knowledge about the earth’s surface, construction science and energy, and urban mobility are only a few of the many topics covered by these centres. Over 200 projects completed by CRDF in the past have included areas like planning for growth, feasibility analyses, and capacity building. Governments, international organisations, diplomatic agencies, and humanitarian organisations have all partnered with it. The foundation values long-term viability, leading projects that improve building energy efficiency, conveyance, and water and sanitation. These initiatives support the advancement of green urban growth, ethical consumption, and effective natural resource management. CRDF regularly participates in international associations and conventions devoted to the advancement of sustainable technology, policy, and planning. As shown by its adherence to an Environmental Safeguard Policy, which ensures compliance with environmental laws, biodiversity preservation, and the inclusion of green practices across all of its operations, CRDF has made conserving the environment a top priority.

Programs

  • Research Programmes

    CRDF conducts research on a wide range of topics, including heritage impact assessment, electrification of public transportation, endangered wooden architecture, slum modelling, non-fare box sources of income for metros, urban water and sanitation, assessing renewable energy, culture cooperation, purchasing process enhancement, carbon emissions, exploratory studies, hand-washing infrastructure, sustainable urban development, energy simulations, urban hygiene support, knowledge alliance, and genetic inheritance assessment.

  • Capacity Building Programmes

    CRDF actively engages in capacity building through diverse initiatives. It offers courses on digital heritage documentation, geographic information systems, and conservation, fostering knowledge and skills. Training programmes focus on climate-responsive construction, urban water and sanitation, and 3D scanning for historical buildings. Collaborating with ministries, CRDF provides executive programmes in sustainable transport and specialized training for officials, enhancing their expertise. Online courses cover cultural heritage and the history of the constructed infrastructure, expanding educational opportunities. The Foundation also extends technical support to State Governments, addressing urban sanitation and procurement challenges. Through craft workshops and leadership programmes, CRDF promotes sustainable urban development, empowering individuals and fostering equitable growth.

  • Advisory Initiatives

    CRDF provides consulting services for various projects. Its expertise includes carrying out Heritage Impact Assessments (HIAs) and developing strategies for the electrification of public transport. It provides advisory support for tourism outlook planning, sustainable city mobility planning and city bus operations. CRDF also helps plan the development of the space and advises on meetings and events. It conducts research on urban bus improvement, electric bus procurement and management, local three-dimensional planning and city expansion planning. CRDF also provides advisory help for the planning, design and development of conveyance systems, evaluation of development plans, policy formulation and global mobility planning. Its services focus on action planning for poorer cities and measuring service levels in urban transport.
