The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) is dedicated to maintaining worldwide leadership in nurturing entrepreneurship. Its objecti Read moreves include becoming a foremost hub for entrepreneurship knowledge management, advancing entrepreneurship through educational initiatives, augmenting the pool of entrepreneurs in line with national priorities, and aiding existing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Its goals extend to forging alliances with policymakers, cultivating networks, and contributing to entrepreneurship capacity building and institutional development on both national and international scales. Established on twenty-three acres of land granted by the Government of Gujarat, the institute has broadened its reach by establishing entrepreneurship development centres and institutes at the state level, and by integrating entrepreneurship education into various academic institutions. Recognized globally for its achievements, EDII has garnered support and recognition from esteemed organisations such as the World Bank, Commonwealth Secretariat, UNIDO, ILO, FNSt, British Council, Ford Foundation, and the European Union. With over four decades of experience, EDII continues to progress, accumulating invaluable insights and expertise in entrepreneurship education and training.

Education, Research & Policy Advocacy Programmes
EDII has pioneered impactful initiatives in education, research, and policy advocacy. Notable achievements include the AICTE-approved Fellow Programme in Management, innovative Post Graduate Diploma programmes, and the development of entrepreneurship course curricula. As a resource hub, it collaborated with UGC for curriculum design and created distance learning programmes. The institute actively engages in policy advocacy, spearheading influential research projects like the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor Survey, India Chapter, and contributing to essential policies such as the AICTE Start-up Policy and MSME Policy. The Policy Brief Series serves to raise awareness of significant policy interventions.

Entrepreneurship Development Models and New Enterprise Creation
EDII pioneered impactful training models, including the EDII-Entrepreneurship Development Programme and Rural Entrepreneurship Development Programme (REDP). It played a crucial role in establishing Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) nationwide. Following the Gujarat earthquake, a Crises Management cum Rehabilitation Model for Economic Regeneration was implemented. The institute created models for Entrepreneur Trainer-Motivators, livelihood generation for the differently-abled, and sector-specific entrepreneurship development in areas like Food Processing, Tourism, and Textiles. EDII, recognized as the Nodal Institute for Start-ups by the Government of Gujarat, also hosts the Centre for Advancing and Launching Enterprises (CrAdLE), promoting technology-innovation-based new enterprises.
