Nihar Charitable Trust, established in 2002 under the Societies Registration Act of 1860, is a non-governmental organization based in Ahmedabad, Gujar Read moreat. he Trust is dedicated to providing affordable medical services, particularly in the field of naturopathy, to underserved communities. The Trust's journey began in 1994 with the inception of Nihar Arogya Mandir, a center committed to offering free naturopathy treatments. Initially operating from Bakarsha’s Wadi at Pirana and later from Swaminarayan Mandir in Ahmedabad, the center served numerous patients seeking alternative medical care. In the same year, the organization extended its services to Sabarmati Jail, where it conducted a three-month program on habits, diet, and yoga for forty inmates serving life sentences. In 2000, the Trust collaborated with Preksha Vishwa Bharati Kendra, a Jain institution, to run a free naturopathy treatment center, benefiting a large number of patients. From July to December 2011, the Trust expanded its outreach by providing free treatments across several villages in Kapadwanj Taluka. Recognizing the challenges associated with free services, the Trust implemented a nominal fee structure to ensure patients take their treatments seriously. This approach has been well-received and has enhanced the efficacy of their services. Additionally, the Trust has published and freely distributed several booklets on naturopathy, reaching over 500,000 Gujarati readers. For the past year, approximately 3 million viewers in Gujarat have benefited from daily ten-minute naturopathy talks by Mukesh Patel on GTPL Movie Channel.
