Genome Foundation (GF) works with the vision of researching and implementing proper diagnostic tests and services in India, with a focus on rural comm Read moreunities. Its diagnostic services are testing, prevention and cure for genetic disorders, infectious diseases and cancer. Other services provided are DNA fingerprinting (civil, forensic, agriculture etc,.), regenerative medicine (Stem cell technology), training in Medical Biotechnology & Bioinformatics and programmes for public awareness on health and well-being. GF carries out R&D studies that aim at designing and developing modules for gene therapy of various genetic disorders. The research & training facility in Hyderabad conducts workshops, summer training and dissertation programmes to provide hands-on training and research experience for students in cellular, molecular and microbiology practices. Its social outreach programme includes partnering with the Government of Himachal Pradesh to train doctors to screen for Muscular Dystrophy disorders in the community and establishing a research and diagnostics centre in a village in Eastern UP (district Jaunpur) where health camps are conducted on alternate Sundays catering to more than 1000 patients each day.
