The Institute of Livelihood Research and Training, established by the Basix Social Enterprise Group (BSEG), is a practice-focused academic institution Read more dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge in livelihood promotion. Its main aim is to develop and share this knowledge to strengthen the abilities of planners and practitioners working on livelihood interventions, particularly for marginalised groups like the poor and women.   • Capacity Building and Handholding

    ILRT offers capacity-building support to various livelihood promotion organisations (LPOs) through both public and customised programmes. Public programmes include a) Basics of Livelihood Promotion – Levels 1 and 2; b) Comprehensive Programme on Livelihood Promotion; and c) Comprehensive Programme on Developing Value Chains. These initiatives aim to enhance participants' skills and knowledge, improving the effectiveness of livelihood promotion and development activities.

  • Livelihood Mapping and Intervention Design

    Livelihood Mapping and Intervention Design is a unique service provided by ILRT that assists development organisations in pinpointing and focusing on the most effective livelihoods within communities. This method entails a comprehensive assessment of the livelihood landscape at the project site, along with an in-depth analysis of three to four specific subsectors. The aim is to enhance interventions for optimal impact and effectiveness in meeting community needs.
