Prajwala is a non-profit organisation involved in spearheading the movement against sex trafficking and sex crimes against women and children. It lend Read mores voice to victims of sex crimes to get justice and be rehabilitated, both nationally and internationally. It also partners with the police to rescue and facilitate the recovery of sex slaves through supporting them medically, psychologically and legally.

Programs

  • Advocacy Programmes

    The organisation intends to create a victim-friendly and just society by working to promote victim-centric policies to aid the affected, file litigations on behalf of the victims to get them favourable legislation and engage with all forms of media to change the mindsets of the general public about the victim.

  • Reintegration Programmes

    Prajwala strives to unite the victims with their families wherever possible, in case the family rejects or is found unsuitable for reintegration, the organisation arranges for their residence in women’s hostels. It also facilitates the marriage of the victim with a suitable and willing partner if she so desires.

  • Rescue Programmes

    Through planned rescue operations, vikalpa, rape victim support programme and victim witness protection, Prajwala rescues and supports victims of sexual assault and trafficking, also providing them with legal and psychological assistance besides facilitating their reintegration into society.

  • Rehabilitation Programmes

    To reinstate confidence and increase morale in victims, the organisation provides for rehabilitation psychologically, economically and in the civic space. It arranges for skill development and relevant education wherever applicable and also coordinates with Government agencies to provide the victims with civic identities to enable them to go back to living a normal life amidst their communities.

  • Prevention Programmes

    According to Prajwala, sex trafficking is the third most organised crime after drugs and arms. It is rampant due to the lack of information and living conditions of the deprived. It is a crime which scars humans for life and damages dignity in good measure.

    Prajwala, through its education programmes and community-based programmes, tries to better the lives of children. Vulnerable children are provided with a value-based and holistic education, counselled to wean them away from prostitution and made aware of alternative livelihoods and involve their mothers and community in the development of the children.

    Its community programme aims at educating men to stop demanding sex services and creating awareness as to the ills of trafficking by setting up collectives who can raise their voices against this malpractice.
