About

  • Headquarters

    Benaulim, Telangana

  • Since

    2003

It educates small and marginal farmers on the merits of forming a co-operative. The activities involve visiting rural areas and informing the villager Read mores of how to form a society and carry on their farming in a better way. It encourages the farmers to pool their products and sell to the mills at village level which helps to provide a better price and also bargaining power. The organisation also identifies and helps co-operative societies in taking up processing activities before the actual produce is sold to the buyers. This helps by getting a better product to buyers. It also helps to connect actual buyers in the market with the co-operatives so that any middlemen are avoided and the farmers get direct access to the markets. To reduce dependence on harmful and chemical fertilizers, the organization educates farmers about organic method of farming which increases crop yield and is also environment-friendly. It is actively involved in water conservation through getting the village involved in adopting new methods of collecting water like rain water harvesting, repair of dams and digging of ponds.

Programs

  • Cooperatives

Assist the small and marginal farmers in creating cooperatives that they own, run, and are in charge of. The goal of these cooperatives is to increase their members' financial security.

The cooperative model that is being pushed is one that is by, with, and for farmers. The only stakeholders in the cooperative are the farmers, who receive training in business, management, and cooperative operations.

  • Sustainable Agriculture

As one of its countermeasures, CCD is focusing on sustainable farming, which maximizes the use of organic inputs. At the same time, techniques are employed to market sustainable food through channels that share the same priorities.

  • Water Revitalization

CCD's fundamental value of "growth through partnership" serves as the foundation for its dedication to the Ground Water Revitalization Program. The water revitalization initiative is only one of the many successful projects that CCD has undertaken over the years, with farmer participation being its greatest asset.

CCD is working on tank desiltation, check dam renovation, stream diversion to dry open well, and new form pond construction as part of the Water Revitalization initiative. In the near future, CCD hopes to accomplish additional ground-breaking feats through farmers' cooperative groups.
