Ekam Foundation works to ensure happy children, mothers and communities. It works alongside public health delivery systems to provide healthcare by pr Read moreoviding training to nurses, helping in maintaining critical medical equipment, transporting sick infants to the nearest medical centre and supporting select Government hospitals by providing lab test reports, drugs and medicines.

Impact

Ekam Foundation has supported 10,00,000 children and families and 12,000 villages have been covered across 8 States implementing 11 projects.

Programs

  • Sustainable Environment Programme

    This programme focuses on setting up herbal gardens in public health centres as per the guidelines laid by the central Government Ayush scheme, additionally greening bare tracts of land and promoting safe food consumption. Under its solid waste management initiative, Ekam Foundation works to set up proper garbage collection and segregation procedures to improve sanitation in villages.

  • Sustainable Livelihoods Programme

    Ekam Foundation runs training programmes to skill women and youth helping them find good employment. It also helps women set up micro-enterprises to achieve self-sustenance.

  • Governance Reforms

    Ekam Foundation conducts training and sessions to introduce behavioural change in people so that they can accept positive changes made by its initiatives. It ensures that the community participates in Gram Sabha meetings so that collective decisions can be made and awareness related to Government welfare schemes can be dispersed. It regularly conducts social audits of its initiatives to gauge effectiveness and impact on society.

  • Maternal Child Health Programme

    This programme aims to help high-risk pregnant women, mothers and children by reaching out to them with rehabilitation support and critical medical care. The save a child project conducts screening of newborn children to detect any issue and helps to address the same, the detection of issues is done at the nearest Anganwadi/schools or sub-health centre for early diagnosis and eye-screening is done to detect eye problems. It facilitates the setting up of infrastructure to enable quality healthcare in remote corners of the country and creates awareness of Government health schemes.

  • Up-skilling Programme

    It enables up-skilling in people to impart training as district co-ordinator officers, who work closely with communities to implement Ekam’s initiatives. Partnering with the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK), a central Government scheme, it works to increase the awareness in adolescents about health and well-being and build up their capacity.

    It trains volunteers to take part and help implement social welfare schemes and also spreads information on organic farming to farmers. It encourages the setting up of kitchen and home gardens and imparts training on this subject. It conducts health surveys of villages to access the level of sanitation and nutrition and also monitors its initiatives at a micro level through various mechanisms.
