Equitas focuses on the economic and social upliftment of society by providing microcredit and loans while addressing the holistic needs of families to Read more ensure sustainable livelihoods. Within two months of starting operations as a microfinance company in 2007, Equitas established the Equitas Development Initiatives Trust (EDIT), a public charitable trust dedicated to promoting education, healthcare, skill training, job fairs, food security, and rehabilitation initiatives.

  • Education

    Equitas is dedicated to enhancing education through its Equitas Gurukul Matriculation Schools, which focus on the holistic development of students, encompassing their physical, intellectual, moral, social, and emotional growth.

    The Trust operates eight schools serving approximately 5,698 children, providing quality education to deserving students from low-income families who lack access to proper infrastructure and resources.

    Established in 2010 in Tiruchirappalli and Dindigul, these schools are recognized by the Directorate of Matriculation Schools, Tamil Nadu. Currently, they are located in Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Dindigul, Karur, Kumbakonam, Salem, Sivakasi, and Trichy, offering education from LKG to Std. XII.

  • Skill Training

    EDIT has launched Equitas Gyan Kendra, a vocational training program aimed at creating better livelihood opportunities. This initiative focuses on skill development for women across various locations, helping them increase their income levels.

    The training covers a wide range of fields, including candle making, agarbatti and incense stick production, phenyl and detergent manufacturing, tailoring, embroidery, masala powder and pickle making, and more in urban areas. In semi-urban and rural regions, the focus extends to agriculture-based activities like beekeeping, mushroom cultivation, rabbit rearing, basket making, and fiber extraction.

    These programs have empowered women to become successful entrepreneurs and change-makers, significantly improving their financial independence and transforming their communities.
