At Kalvi Thunai, we support schoolchildren from underprivileged sections of society, focusing on helping them complete their homework and review the d Read moreay's lessons. We believe that completing homework boosts their confidence and willingness to attend school. Initially, we worked with students from class IV to class IX, but as the program evolved, we brought in qualified teachers to mentor students in classes X, XI, and XII as well. Since the academic year beginning in June 2014, we now serve students from class IV to class XII. Due to space limitations and the availability of qualified teachers, we have capped the total number of students at 105.

Kalvi Thunai offers after-school support to students from classes 4 to 12, helping with homework, clarifying difficult concepts, organizing extracurricular activities and outings, and providing guidance for holistic development.

Over 1,000 students have benefited from Kalvi Thunai's programs, with at least 350 now employed, and the center currently supports 136 students with 11 paid teachers.

Kalvi Thunai's mission is to ensure that underprivileged and qualified children have access to quality education, aiming to bridge the financial gap and create opportunities for these children to reach their full potential and break the cycle of poverty.

School after school
This is our flagship program, and we are proud to have completed ten successful years of this ongoing initiative. The program is entirely free, and we exclusively admit students from government schools. To date, 1009 students have benefitted from our services. With the support of L&T IDPL under their CSR, we have expanded our space and will gradually increase our student capacity from 140 to 200. In addition to academics, we offer a variety of extracurricular activities to promote the holistic development of our children. These include storytelling sessions focused on heritage, culture, and instilling values, as well as fostering social responsibility. Every day, we provide delicious and nutritious snacks for both the children and teachers.

Vocational course
During the day, we offer vocational courses aimed at enhancing employability. Our fees are 80% lower than those charged by commercial centers in Coimbatore. To date, we have successfully secured jobs for over 700 boys and girls. We are continually expanding our range of skill development courses to better prepare students for entry-level jobs. Upon course completion, we assist them in finding employment.

Milestones & Track Record
Kalvi Thunai has achieved a 100% pass rate for students in classes 10 and 12, and has expanded its services to include vocational training courses and soft-skills development for students who have completed class 12.
