Established by Dr. Priya Ramachandran, the Ray of Light Foundation is dedicated to improving survival rates for children with cancer by offering compr Read moreehensive treatment free of financial barriers. It prioritises children from underprivileged families who lack access to proper medical care. The foundation fully finances up to two years of treatment, ensuring that the children receive care aligned with Western medical standards at a specialised children’s hospital, guided by paediatric oncologists. By covering treatment costs often exceeding Rs 5 lakhs, the foundation prevents disruptions that could hinder recovery. With an 85% survival rate, significantly higher than that of many other centres, the foundation’s efforts have made a substantial difference. It also provides ongoing monitoring and holistic support for families. Since its founding, the foundation has supported the treatment of 200 disadvantaged children.
Action
The foundation takes over the care of children with cancer who cannot afford treatment, providing free medical treatment for the entire course of their treatment which typically lasts 2.5 years.
