About the project:

In response to the pressing need for youth development in rural communities, Thalir Academy is a holistic solution to enhance the socio-economic status of rural families. Recognizing the pivotal role of skill development in transforming the fortunes of youth, Thalir Academy strategically addresses key factors identified through internal assessments: inadequate family income, poor education status and lack of skill set among rural youth and families.

What is Thalir Academy: Thalir, a Tamil word symbolizing growth and development, encapsulates the academy's vision. Thalir Academy for Youth Skill Development Center commits to implement a comprehensive set of activities.

1. Skill Development:

  a. Vocational Training: Offering practical training in fashion design, tailoring, embroidery, jewellery making, driving, beauty and wellness services, retail, sales, and electrical and electronics.

  b. Digital Empowerment: Providing essential digital skills for online job opportunities.

  c. Entrepreneurship and Life Skills: Instilling business planning, financial management, and personality development for holistic growth.

2. Career Counseling and Job Placement:

  a. Personalized Career Counseling: Guiding youth for informed career choices.

  b. Resume Building: Assist in crafting compelling resumes and interview preparation.

  c. Establishing Industry Connections: Cultivating relationships with industries, organizing events, and maintaining job listings for placement assistance.

  d. Follow-Up Support: Providing post-placement follow-ups for sustained success.

3. Holistic Development:

  a. Financial Literacy: Empower youth with banking knowledge and encouraging savings.

  b. Legal Awareness: Educating on legal rights and setting up support networks.

  c. Mentorship: Facilitating mentorship and peer support.

  d. Government Scheme: Improving knowledge about various supportive government schemes.

4. Economic Empowerment:

  a. Community Store Front: Creating a hub for showcasing and selling products and services.

  b. Cooperative Promotion: Establishing cooperative societies for collaborative economic activities.

Uniqueness of Thalir Academy: Thalir will be implemented by local community members and benefit from Kalanjiyam's presence in 50 surrounding villages. The community-driven approach ensures ownership and sustainability.  Thalir Academy will be poised to transform the youth of Lattur and Maduranthakam blocks by shaping the future where rural youth are skilled, confident, and economically independent.
