Be Their Lifeline: Support Vulnerable Students Fighting to Pass Class X CBSE Exams from Changlang district

Imagine being a child in one of the most remote corners of India—Arunachal Pradesh, where opportunities are scarce, and the dream of a better future seems like an impossible goal. Now imagine that the only thing standing between you and that dream is passing your Class X board exams, an exam you are barely prepared for, due to a lack of resources, guidance, and support.

This is the harsh reality for the children of Changlang District. These children, many of whom come from families struggling to meet their basic needs, attend underfunded government schools. For them, education is not just about learning—it’s their only chance to break the cycle of poverty that has held their families back for generations.

In 2022, the outlook for these students seemed bleak. Schools like GSS Gautampur and GSS Dumpather were at the bottom, with only 6% of students passing their Class X exams. Just 6%. These children, through no fault of their own, were being left behind.

But then something incredible happened.

With your support, in CBSE Board Exam 2024, the pass rate jumped to 58%!

You helped them rise, giving them a fighting chance. The joy in their eyes and the hope that bloomed in their hearts were immeasurable. For the first time, these children began to believe they could succeed. You helped them dream again.

However, Government Secondary School, Diyun, saw its pass rate drop from 85% in 2023 to a heartbreaking 35% in 2024. The struggle continues, but so does our determination.

The Challenge: A Critical Year for 171 Students

Now, in the academic year 2024-25, we are expanding our Board Support Program to cover three schools—Govt. Secondary School, Gautampur, Govt. Secondary School, Dumpather, and Govt. Secondary School, Diyun—and help 171 students prepare for their Class X board exams. But we cannot do this alone. We need your help to cover the cost of the project.

These children have so much potential, but they face overwhelming challenges:

• Poverty holds them back from accessing the study materials and coaching they desperately need.
• Isolation from resources and support systems means they often feel alone in their struggles.
• Anxiety and the weight of expectations make the burden even heavier. Many children fear failure not just for themselves but for their families who are counting on them to succeed.

We believe that with the right support, these children can and will succeed. They have already shown us their resilience. Now it’s time for us to show them our unwavering belief in their future.

• 📒Provide free study materials, notes, and previous exam papers so these students can prepare thoroughly.
• 👨‍🏫Offer continuous after-school coaching to guide them through their toughest subjects.
• 👨‍👧‍👧Create a safe, supportive space where they can focus on their studies, free from the distractions and hardships of daily life.
• 💝Organize mental health and stress management workshops, helping them cope with exam pressure and giving them the emotional tools to succeed.
• 🏠Provide/Host a residential hostel for the 171 students during the exam duration, where they can stay, study, and receive around-the-clock tutoring and care without any worries and household chores which they would otherwise have to fulfill if they were at home.
• At the residential hostels students will follow a rigorous daily timetable, starting with personal care and mindfulness activity in the morning, nutritious breakfast, followed by focussed study time, doubts clearance, solving mock papers, peer-learning and activities throughout the day and interspersed with hearty and delicious meals.
