Punjab's children are facing an unprecedented education crisis that threatens their future and the state's prosperity. 

Punjab's children are facing an education emergency and this is how.  According to a study, 67 out of every 100 children in Standard III cannot read text meant for Standard II students. These aren't just numbers—these are children who sit in classrooms every day, falling further behind, losing confidence, watching their dreams slip away.

More than half the children in Standard III cannot do basic subtraction. Skills that should be second nature by this age remain out of reach.

One in four young people in Punjab feel there's no future for them in their own state. The opportunities they see around them don't match their hopes and aspirations.

Our partner NGO Sanjhi Sikihya is on a mission to change this and they need your help in this. What more, your donation will be matched by the ATE Chandra Foundation (ATECF) rupee-to-rupee.  Sanjhi Sikihya will educate children so that they are future-ready. This is being done through its program that involves the youth of Punjab to achieve the goal.

The impact on the ground:

The NGO is already making a huge impact on the ground.  In just a few years, Sanjhi Sikhiya has reached 1,200 schools across Punjab, trained and supported 5,000 teachers, impacted 1.22 lakh students, and empowered 94 youth leaders who are driving change in their communities.

Real change happens when communities take ownership. The NGO has mobilised over 8,000 community members who refuse to accept mediocre education for their children. Together, they've formed 350+ Gram Sikhiya Sabhas—village education councils that give communities a voice in their schools. They have empowered 516 School Management Committees to move from paperwork to real action, and created 584 Teacher Collectives where educators support and learn from each other. When Punjab faced its toughest test, Sanjhi Sikhiya is empowering youth to restore safe and joyful spaces for every child covering 100 schools, turning flooded classrooms into Schools of Strength.
